New Toolbox Project

Well, a project of sorts, because I need to decide what I'm going to do with it now. At a benefit for a local guy this past winter I was next out bidder in an auction for a small hand striped cheap-o toolbox...it went for a ridiculous amount. Anyway, I approached the painter and for another donation he agreed to stripe a box if supplied it. I finally got the box to him a couple weeks ago and yesterday he dropped it by the office. I'm pretty happy with it and am thinking of making it into a desktop 2-bottle liquor cabinet/vault.

Did he paint the whole thing or just do the stripes for ya? Lookin good!

Reminds me of a set I saw on ebay one time. It was a slightly newer small box like that full of S/O tools and had been painted in 57' chevy "mint" green. Pretty slick looking.

No, that's the paintjob that it came with from S-O. The only other two boxes I've seen that he's done were black base with white & red & orange striping and a bit more fancy. My only request was that it wasn't too over the top, just a nice clean & classic look.

Very cool work, I especially dig the piston panel and the vise.

not so much for the Husker work though...:)

I'd defer all requests to you...the guy who did my box does it on the side as a hobby along with some airbrushing. Very jealous of the talent displayed on your page.

That's a great looking box. I think you should fancy up the inside and make it your mini-bar, or make it custom for some select tools (see my Pimpin' my drawers thread), maybe delicate or expensive stuff like a torque wrench collection, or make it a dedicated box to some sub-set of tools. Like I've got a portable box with just my electrical test equipment and specialized tools that I can carry around the house or to a friend's that thinks I know what I'm doin'.

Thanks allot man! I really don't want to hijack your thread here so I will keep my passion for pinstriping to the link I gave in this topic. Feel free to leave comments about individual pieces of work on that site if you are so inclined, Just be sure to leave your name with the comment ;)
