For ignition points? They should. Just go to an old guy to ask cause I doubt any teenager would know what you were talking about.

I guess that means I'm in the brotherhood of geezers, when I know exactly what the OP is talking about. Porschedude996TT: unless your post was in jest, you must be a young whipper-snapper.....:)

Sorry johninct, no idea.

Dooh! I get it now, yes, thanks MAD!

jvitez, nope, not that young any more (57) and I have no excuse. I changed out a set of points for a pertronix a couple of weeks ago on my sons VW Bug and my older Porsche some months ago. The wording hit me strangely.

Use this if you willing to pay.. I've seen people use a drop of motor oil. I've used dielectric grease and had no problems but it comes off from the heat.http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...ription=Bosch Distributor Grease, 225 ml tube

I think you can really use anything.. PB blaster, 3in1 oil, phill wood oil, motor oil, ATF, lithium grease. or anything else. WD-40 will evaporate and heavy grease will sling off.

Standard lubricam, SL-2. If anyone needs it their dielectric grease is SL-4...can't have too many numbers for modern times, with clerks whose grandfathers never saw a point.
NAPA Echlin Moly Lubricant for points, ML-1

Buy several...it's just gonna get harder. Even though one tube will probably serve me for the next 3 lifetimes or so, I keep'em stashed for the day I step on my supply or the beagle eats it all...

I remember when Bosch use to include a little with each set of pts. A tune down use to include R&R the dis put it on the Sun dis machine and set the dwell, check the advance then put a tab on the rubbing block. How many shops still have a dis machine?

Recently I picked up an NOS set of older Proto ignition wrenches in a tool roll, and it included a small tube of Sorensen brand ignition distributor lube.
