I been working on putting together a 1/4" extension set and have picked up a few of the sizes included in the snap-on extension set. I know that the set that is listed on their site stops at 11", but is there another set that has larger sizes? My reason for asking is that once I get all the sizes, I am going to locate a tray and drop them in it.

As always, Thanks!

I always have my eye open for extensions, Craftsman or better usually, but I have a couple of the $10 HF sets, and generally they have been fine. Most of the time I need straight and long, not loads of torque.

Yea I know that snap-on makes extensions larger than 11". I was asking if they made a complete set of them that included extensions that were larger than the 11" that is included in http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=hand&item_ID=640824&group_ID=674767&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog.

I know back in the day that snap-on had a 1/4" set that included 2", 4", 6", 10" and 14".

Again, my reasoning is I want to pick up a tray soon and keep the extensions in it. If they dont make a set that has a tray for sizes larger than 11" then the 14" and 24" will just set in the toolbox and the smaller sizes will go in the tray they make now.

You just have to be careful with 1/4" drive extensions over 14". They tend to flex with a preponderance to unknowingly over torque either the faster in question and/or the ratchet being used. Most tool companies do not offer these longer sizes for these reason alone.

I see no point in using a 1/4" extension that is over 18 inches. Anything that long will just twist and flex and you won't be able to tighten down the fastener to spec.

agreed 100% even in most manuals they tell you not to extend the socket no more then 15-18 inches away from the torque wrench because of inaccurate torque. Yes you can do the equations and all but you cannot put flex into the equation.

You would be surprised how many times those 36" extensions are helpful or make a tough job get completed. I like having any and all options to me; having more options make jobs goes easier and faster! :)
