... We made this door out of pecky cypress right in the garage.

doorcopy.jpg

Mark, That door could stand a build thread of its own. I can respect the fabrication details needed to create that beauty. I could see that thing right now at Medieval Times. You are also a master in wood! And that chandelier is also a work of art.

BTW, I only get about 5-10 minutes in the morning on GJ before the boss or coworkers start to wander. It took a few hours sitting in an emergency room this weekend with my daughter to catch up on this awesome thread. (It was probably just a virus, but nothing for us to loose sleep over like we were...)

I will also need to find out when and if there are car shows nearby that you show your Willys at. Or even the Malibu or Vette...

omg, just wow... was this even asked how much does a garage like that cost?
You don't have to give exact numbers just a range honestly... that's the size of a house so I can only imagine... just wow. Beautiful.

The suburban looks very tidy...my only comment is wouldn't the exhaust create less havoc from a ground clearance perspective tucked up in the rear wheels and exiting somewhere where the clearance is a little better?

Absolutely amazing build and I love the vehicles. First rate! I've been busy with a race shop build for a client and haven't been on GJ much. Now I see what I've missed. Your home and garage are works of art!

Jeff, we are so close we will meet this year for sure. We are in tampa in October for the NSRA show at the fairgrounds but I am sure there are shows before then. I hope to get a few cars back together soon.

If i gave you the range I would only embarrass myself because you would think I was an idiot for spending that much. :scared:

That silver-and-black Suburban would look radical finished off as a Hot Rod Hearse!

Yes it would but I don't know if I could bring myself to drive it. When I was a young boy I told my mom I wanted to be a mortician because I wanted to have a ********* cadillac limo.

The suburban looks very tidy...my only comment is wouldn't the exhaust create less havoc from a ground clearance perspective tucked up in the rear wheels and exiting somewhere where the clearance is a little better?
The old guy had it right...........air ride brings the vehicle up to the proper ride height. For some reason I have to put air ride on every hot rod I have......its called "Stance" I just think they look better low to the ground.

Your a professonal!! I could use a little help here if you are ever in the area.

Tremendous! All of it. Planning and managing must have been a full time affair, it's amazing you even still have a wife or job :D Kudos and enjoy!

It was a tremendous amount of planning. We spent 4 years total on this project. I am lucky to be a business owner and have the flexibility to be absent in the afternoons so I could spend time out here. After the garage was built we living here so it was so easy to be working on the house. My wife loved every minute of it and her decorating is out of this world. She had two 3 ring binders detailing every faucet to each piece of furniture. OUr furniture was bought one year in advance..........I mean she had it planned like you would not believe. Me, heck man I just go where the wind blows me. I am known for changing my mind. If I think of a better idea i am going with it.

Probably airbagged and lifts on takeoff.:3gears:

Your compound is just freaking "sick". I would never go into the house.

Great job Mark!!!

Thanks mike, I don't come in the house much. luckily the wife lets me spend my time in the garage. She brings me over food during the day because when I am going I don't stop. I am pretty lucky!!

That's funny. When I was a young boy there was a badass guy in town who had a ********* cadillac hearse. He played bass guitar in a cover band and they'd haul their equipment around in the hearse, which was all souped up.

Wow, very tasteful job. Executed to perfection, your attention to detail is impressive.
Some of the builds inside the build are even more impressive. Those are some beautiful vehicles!

Mark, your project reflects a TON of care, attention to detail, good taste, and an obvious tremendous amount of work on your part. I can tell you have a lot of your personal time invested in it. Great car/truck projects as well.

The folks spouting on about "no soul" have a serious case of wallet envy, it would seem.

Thank you very much for the compliment. It has been a labor of love and a dream come true for me. I did spend a tremendous amount of time on the concept and the build. We really did not realize it would turn out as spectacular as it did.

As far as other's opinions when we put ourselves out there we have to take all feedback in stride. I have been very humbled by the kind words of you and others about the garage.

How long ago did you build it? Sounds cool all living together!
We just finished construction this past November 2011. Its pretty great and all with the family........we have 3 golf carts so this is how we travel between the houses. Wife is a workout nut so she rides a bike:lol:

I was just starting to feel proud of myself for closing in my carport and buying a 60 gallon air compressor, then I see this garage and I am reminded I have a long way to go. I think this is the nicest garage I have seen. At the very least a tie with the "Bunker."

In other words, you are saying myself and Ryan, the owner of this site have wallet envy? Because he used the words soul-less in his Journal entry. Not quite. Like I said, coming from a life of carpentry it is an impressive building. But it is the garage equivalent of Disnyland or a movie facade. Fake substance is still FAKE. I am most impressed by the early pictures and all the engineering to make it withstand a hurricane. That is something that truly means something to me since we have clocked 100-120mph winds on a regular basis at our ranch.
