Snap On ???? What do you call it

Ok so im not sure what kind of ratchet this would be. I picked it up over the weekend at the flea market but not sure what its original use was. I showed it to my Snap on guy today and he had never seen one so I did not feel so bad. We were thinking it might have came with a set of adapters or extension style that went in it. A 1/2 is too small for it and 3/4 is too large. Would love to learn more about it and what year it would be from. Thanks

its a female drive ratchet. yes you use adapters. its most likely a 5/8" drive

Its a 5/8 dr rat from the late 20s, missing the plug.

Thanks guys, I kind of felt bad that I did not know what to call it but after my SO guy did not know I did not feel so dumb. This thing is heavy, I would hate to have to work with it all day long.

That's cool, I just found some Snap on sockets in 5/8 drive that are from the 1950s.

5/8" is a funny drive size...maybe about as weird my 7/16" drive ratchet and sockets.

guess I will be looking for 5/8 sockets now. does anyone have any pics of the sockets or the plug

Look for the plug first. Sockets are easier to find. And sockets without that plug won't do you any good.
