Honestly, they look pretty damn similar to me. That, and Griot's is pretty proud of their stuff. Too much money for what you get....

And you can paint pegboard with a roller or spray gun to get the industrial look you like. I've done it and it doesn't take long to put 2 coats of paint on with a roller; use the disposable foam rollers/plastic trays and there's no clean up!

EDIT: Pegboard storage (wood/metal, painted/unpainted) is underrated and underutilized. What made it a good idea in the 50's and 60's still applies; it's a great use of vertical space and positions your "go-to" tools in easy reach of your work bench. There is the issue of tool security. I keep most of my tools, and especially the higher value ones in locked drawers. But for those lower value tools that are frequently needed (hammer, adjustable wrenchs, arc groove pliers, common screwdrivers, nut drivers, C-clamps, spray lubricants, tape, bottle cap lifters, etc), put 'em up on the peg board where you can grab 'em as needed without having to unlock your tool boxes.

Pegboard does make more sense, but I kind of like the industrial metal look.

Pegboard isn't just wood.

Before I got my box, all of my tools were on PB. The enitre back wall of my garage was covered with the stuff. I wish I had taken a picture of it as it looked quite impressive!

The Griz stuff, if you can stand the green colour, is not bad. I'm thinking that it might just be a good choice for my power tools. I would have to get it recoated in Silver or Yellow though!

Why not just get aluminum then? No coating.

Crawler,

Just curious, how does the aluminum PB compare to wood PB price wise? Where do you buy aluminum PB (is this a new oxymoron?)? Do the hangers stay in the holes better than in wood PB?

http://www.diamondlifegear.com/pegboards.htm

I bought it from a different place, but it was this brand. Price is higher than wood. The hangers come out a little easier, since it's not as thick. The long straight hangers will slant down a little, since the aluminum isn't as thick. I just bend the bottom tab on the hanger back a bit, and it takes care of the problem.

I like it because it doesn't get beat up, and it's easy to clean. Looks good, also.

Edit: Buy the spacer pack if you get it and mount it on a wall. the company I got mine from didn't sell those, and I didn't realize they were available. I had a bunch of 1/2" PEX laying around, so I set a stop on the saw and cut up a bunch of spacers and liquid nailed them to the back. For $1.99, the self stick factory ones would be much easier.

I must be an oddball. I've never seen the point of pegboard other than to give a thief quicker access to your stuff. I much prefer to keep my tools safely in their drawers until needed.

The Grizzly and Griots pegboards have square holes - something about the brackets not moving around as much?

$800 for 4 crappy casters and two sheets of pegboard.:wtf:

:spit::lol_hitti You really think it's any safer in a toolbox? They like that. They just roll the whole damn thing onto a liftgate truck. Gone in 60 seconds.

Give me one minute, and I can be in any toolbox I want. You have a very false sense of security.
