It must have been all very early production stuff. My early production 80 tooth ratchets, with the weaker head design, does not have USA stamped on them.

So was there a design flaw that they fixed with the new ones? Would that mean a FKF80 stamped USA is probably worse than a new one?

All I know is that they switched the screw heads from the black ratchet plate side, threading into the chromed head itself, to the chromed head, threading into the black plate. Apparently they would shear themselves apart for some reason. I haven't had this issue with my older design ones, but the screws like to keep loosening up on my 1/2" drive one. Very annoying.

That does sound annoying.

That's why they use blue threadlocker.
