Hello,

I have a craftsman 1/2 impact wrench model 875-188992. I got it as a gift about 10 years ago. Does anyone know the torque specs of this gun? It can handle most of the projects I need it for, but when i was pressing out ball joints with this gun I got kinda lucky. I was looking to pick up a more powerful gun like either the HF 1/2 earthquake as a backup for when I need a more powerful wrench or just replace the craftsman with Aircat 1200. The IR 2135 guns are nice but a little to expensive for my needs.

I assume you mean this one:

A co-worker has one and IIRC she says its good for 500ft/lbs. but I think this is probably optimistic, but IDK. We just discussed which wrench would be best for a perlacement a few days ago, doing a search might help you. Good luck!

That looks exactly like my impact. I did try searching on here and over the net. I emailed sears. I have my owners manual and it doesn't list the torque specs. My other sears air tools list the specs in the owners manual but this one doesn't have them. I think 500 is optimistic too. I thought maybe 400 or so in reverse and 325 forward. Not sure though.

She? said? I don't seem to come across femechs unless tatooed, peirced or holding back water aka dike.

Ok, back to thread. I went with a NitroKitty 1200K and their 3/8" rat. Both perform great.

Well I did a little more research. I posted my impact model number on the craftsman community webpage and I was told that Florida Pneumatics made my craftsman impact wrench. I emailed Florida Pneumatic and they responded that the gun has 500 ft/lbs F/R. They had a 1/2 impact wrench very similiar to my 1/2 craftsman in there universal tool catalog. The specs were 95-325 ft/lbs of working torque and 500lbs max torque. I guess you were right Transittech.

I see an Aircat 1100K in my future for my heavy duty suspension work.

We have that impact @ our shop; I think those specs are way over rated, I don't think it would hold a candle to any IR out there... not a horrible impact but certainly not to modern impact standards. If it works for the stuff you need to do; more power to you, use it.... my brother likes his and even took it apart, put new vanes in it, when they wore out.

Yeah the craftsman gun is ok. I've never had any issues with it, but I feel it doesn't have a ton of power either which is why I'm looking to get a more powerful one and keep this as a backup. I thought I would have no problem pressing out ball joints with this im[pact, but I feel I got lucky on with the bottom ball joints on my envoy. I also used the craftsman to press in longer wheel studs in the axles on my brothers 72 Nova. It completed the job, but you could tell it was working hard to pull the studs in the last little bit.

Do you happen to have access to this specific model 875-188992 in your shop still? and if so do you have the box for it? maybe you could take apicture of it for this posting? I am trying to find out the specs especially torque for this product and if possible obtain an owners manual. Thanks

Is there any way you could send me a copy of the owners manual for the impact wrench model number 875-188992? I have been searching everywhere for it and no luck. Sears parts said I could order it but when I called to order it they were not able to confirm it was for that specific model stating the manufacturer no longer makes it. I too have not been able to find out anything on the actual torque specs for this impact. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The owners manual is pretty much useless. There is a picture on the front with the model number. The second page is a parts diagram. The next page talks about air supply, lubrication, safety concerns and a few steps on how to disassemble and reassemble the gun. The last page tells you where to order parts. Thats it. No torque specs, nothing. I found the torque specs from Florida Pneumatic and they responded that the gun has 500 ft/lbs F/R. Thats all I got.

I have a bunch of Craftsman impacts along with other air tools I do not turn for a living. I restore farm machinery and rebuld an engine once in a while. The Craftsman have been good for what I do. I have several Mac's and I think they are better. Sense I buy and sell and have to second hand stores I use them for a while and then flip them when I get a different one. I have never broken an air tool in 50 years.
