Compressor 3/4" Air Valve Thats 110v Solenoid Operated

I'm planning on mounting my air compressor in my basement utility room to save space and keep the noise down in the car hole. In addition to a remote 110/220v relay, I would like to shut the air off at the tank so I don't keep coming back to an empty 60 gallon tank when I leave a leaky tool hooked up. The relay is pretty straight forward, but I am having trouble finding a solenoid operated air valve that is not plastic.

Has anybody solved this problem before?

Asco & Skinner should have valves w/ 120 volt coils. Be prepared for sticker shock bought a kit to repair a malfunctioning 1/2" IPS Asco valve & it was better then $40, & it was a aftermarket kit too. It may pay to check eBay for one.

Most fluid power supply houses will have the valves you are looking for. The yellow pages are a good place to start. Look under Hydraulics or Pneumatics.

Remember to vent the unloader valve to prevent a hard start against pressure. The pressure switch usually does that at the end of each compression cycle.

Here's one:

Perfect for your application, since it is normally closed, you can have it open via the same application of power that triggers your relay for the compressor power.

Another option is an actuator-controlled ball valve.
The actuator itself is often 24vAC, but that just requires a doorbell or HVAC transformer.

I take it you mean just the repair kit was $40? I googled Asco & Skinner and the cheapest I found for a 3/4 NPT valve/solenoid assembly capable of 175 PSI was $169. Does that sound right or should I be able to find the entire valve for about $40?

Thanks,
Charlie.

Put a ball valve in the area you are working in. I suspect after this is done it wont be too long before you fgure out you did it for nothing.

$169 would be about right for the entire valve. They ain't cheap. I buy them for use at work occasionally.
