Classifieds were getting way too many irrelevant comments and clutter. That's not a discussion forum, it's a classified section. How do you know if something in the newspaper classifieds is sold? Or Craig's List? You contact the person and he tells you if it's still available. How can you know if somebody is ahead of you in line? You ask the seller and he tells you.

Good riddance I say and I think it's finally fixed imho. But I know not everybody likes it. I certainly hope you voted in the poll when Ryan was asking if the replies should stay or go. It was 10 to 1 in favor of them getting the boot.

Quoted for truth. It may not be a perfect solution, but it's easily 10x better than the mess it was before.

Just because you are able to post "DIBS" also didn't mean that someone had already pm'd the OP and sent payment either. So basically it comes down to the OP marking the items sold in a timely manner I think.

Take it up with the OP of the classifieds ad if they're failing to update their thread.

OPs are not always going to be able to update item status quickly. If I post stuff Sunday night, go to bed, get a bunch of "i'll take its" and then I go to work Monday morning, where I can't just play on the internet, it might not be until the next evening that I am able to update the thread. Just reality.

This is very much true. I remember once in a thread of mine, a couple of posters bagged on me not responding to someone's comments fast enough. As I said then, it was apparently out of the question that I had to sleep, go to work for 8 or 9 hours the next morning, get home and get settled in before turning on the computer. Crazy stuff, right? :wtf:

I'm with OP. Would much rather have the ability to post comments. It is useful when someone with a low post count is selling items. Most times, someone would post when they received items and give a little insight regarding their transaction.

Conversation back and forth was the main reason the change was made.
