Hello, I picked up these ratchets in a box lot at a auction and one doesn't have any markings on it and the other ones says mustang.

There both 1/2 drive. I cant get the mustang one open but it has a oil hole.

Nope, Walden is long gone. What's wrong? Slipping or just rough? Often, a thorough cleaning and fresh quality lube can work wonders on these old coarse toothed ratchets.

I tried cleaning it, you can see in the pics that the one pawl catches on a tooth and then you cant ratchet it any more

Speaking of puns...

Some of you guys may be too young to remember this evil character from "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"...

...but I always thought her name - Nurse Ratched - was a perfect combination of wretched and ratchet.

I looked at the pawl pic, and I'd guess the wear is in the cam to switch directions; its not disengaging fully. Is it only in one direction, or both? Maybe the cam slipped on the actuator if it is a press on? :dunno:
