Garage mirror suggestions..

I have a 2 car garage with shelves down the inside outter walls. To get 2 cars into the garage, I have to back 1 car in and drive the other one in normally. To have a good walkway in the middle, I need to get the cars close to the shelves. Sounds worse than it is as 1 car is not driven often so I back that one in. I was thinking about putting mirrors on the back wall like parking garges have.

Anyone have any other suggestion or know where I can get some mirrors that I can mount on the garage. I think the best would to be have them in the front and back so I can see how close I am without hitting the shelves..

My attached garage is the same way. One car backed in against the wall...the other forward towards the wall.

The backed in car is a Viper...and visibility stinks on the right while backing up. While at Lowes, I bought a roll of the yellow and black striped tape. My wife helped me get the car in where I want it...then I put a stripe of tape from the edge of the floor inside the door to almost the back wall along the edge of the car wheels.

Now, I just open the drivers door, line up the stripe and back it. Sine the stripe goes the length of the car, know the whole way in that it's lined up.

Just a thought as opposed to having a mirror. I can post a pic if needed.

Either do the tape as Matt described, or you could mount a mirror like this without too many problems:

http://www.amazon.com/LAURENCE-TPLX13-Diameter-Indoor-Acrylic/dp/B002DVQRQ0

Make sure it's bright enough in there to use properly, especially at night.

I just purchased and installed a convex mirror so I can see myself pulling onto my new lift making sure I am lined up w/o any help. Installed yesterday and works great. Just make sure you get one big enough to be able to see from where you want. They recommend 1" diameter mirror for ever 1' of distance you will view. I wanted to see from across the garage, so I got the 36" mirror. I wanted to mount close to the ceiling so I ended up getting a rectangular round convex mirror that is 24x36 from amazon which is a 36" round mirror with the top and bottom cut to make it only 24" tall.

I thought about a mirror too... but wasn't willing to give up the wall space in the attached garage. I did consider covering the front of the floor cabinets in front of the mid-rise with stainless panels...haven't done it.

Sure! Would love to see it..

Just a thought. How about a set of Go-Jacks (or the cheap HF clones) to move the car as close to the wall as possible? You might be surprised at how many times you will use them to reposition the car around the garage.

Took these with the door shut...so I can't get far enough away to get the whole place in the pic. I wanted to get this on now..before I forget and it's dark out.

And yes...the hood is up and unlatched at the front since it's last outing...to let the heat out.

Hope this helps. The cover at the bottom of the first pic is my 72 Plymouth. It pulls in forward against the wall...and the Viper gets backed in. There's enough room that way to open both driver's doors.

got a few pics of my 24x36 convex mirror for you... It allows me to see all 4 corners of my car (when the lift is lowered) as I am pulling onto the lift to ensure I am strait on.
