The excellent properties of Wera tools greatly increase the productivity of our customers. The Kraftform® screwdriver is the perfect example of this high standard. For the first time in the production of screwdrivers, ergonomic aspects were taken into consideration in the development of a tool. The Kraftform® handle has become a favourite of many users worldwide since its introduction on the market in 1968 and has won several awards. This handle revolutionised the market for screwdrivers, which was dominated at the time by cylindrical, wooden or plastic handles shaped with slots or ribs. Today, the Kraftform® handle stands for innovation as well as tradition, and is the unmistakable Wera trademark.

Check out the new products on www.weratools.com (New Stainless Screwdrivers and the new Zyklop rachet tool......unbelievable!)

It's a shame, because Wera are really good tools, but spamming fora is the fastest way to develop a crappy reputation known to man.

Those have got to be the ugliest screwdrivers on the market. I'm not saying they don't work great, they just look like ***.

I know I am kind of new here as well. I seen a post about the Wera screwdrivers and have been checking out their site. I was kicking around the idea of ordering a set of the black & yellow handled ones to see how I liked them.

Now I am really having second thoughts. I am no fan of spam and if a representative can't come on the baord and discuss tools and contribute before throwing out posts like this I a not sure I want the product they are trying to sell.

SPAM city. I refuse to do business with any company that resorts to SPAM. It was the same with telemarkerters calling my house until I got on the do not call list. Found out what they were selling then hung up and never did business with them again. Same with junk snail mail straight into the trash!

I have quite a few of the Wera Kraftform Micro Screwdrivers for small torx, regular and phillips for working on computers and other small screws. I like how they fit the fasteners really well and the unique ergonomic handle helps you get stubborn screws out. These are German designed tools and because of this their design and esthetic sense is different then American companies; they look different but if you look at other german/european brands they look relatively "normal" aside from the geometric green shapes in the handle. Other brands would be Wera, Hazet, Stahlwille, Witte, Facom, and Wiha. If you can step away from your initial reaction to the esthetics of their screwdrivers you really need to try some out to appreciate the ergonomics and machining on the tips of the blades (they fit fasteners amazingly well!).
Now for the representative that started this post; the letters on some of my screwdrivers has come off when I cleaned them (this happened when they were brand new, all I was using was WD-40). This is the only brand tool that I have ever owned that this has happened to and I use WD-40 to clean many of my tools all the time. Will you warranty my screwdrivers? At this point I cannot read the sizes now the numbers are gone.

Designing screwdrivers from the **** shop?

:spit:

I wouldn't buy a wera screwdriver after that showing, although, I probably never would, just due to awful looks.

Elroy would suggest that if **** wants to sell "Wera" screw drivers that the manufacturer needs to go to the expense of getting them in the standard distribution channels. The market place will determine if they was worth a **** or just another "whizz" tool.

At his point Elroy wouldn't use them.

The **** plug was an excellent analogy.

Elroy would like to know: If their handle design is so damn good and has been on the market for 40 years. Where the hell have they been? :headscrat

I recently got a set of their screwdrivers but, I didn't get them from Florida or the guy that irritated everyone. That handle is pretty comfortable despite how ugly it looks. I don't think I'll have to worry about them walking off as much as other brands have and they definitely stand out in a crowd.
I must live a sheltered life because, I just thought handle resembled other European made screwdrivers.
I'm not sure if the idiot's post amounts to spam since he posted what amounts to an ad without sending a pm to each member of the board that I know of.
Perhaps the bone head could make amends by posting a legitimate ad that was paid for in order to redeem himself by supporting the board.

I wouldnt mind the spam if the first 100 garage journal members to respond to his post get a free Wera #2 phillips and a 1/4" flathead.
Maybe I'd even change my signature.:lol_hitti

Uch, very poor advertising. There is the right way of attracting attention, and the wrong way.

An example of the right way is how the three member Gearwrench team asked for input regarding a new tool's design. In the same thread and elsewhere, the GW guys have answered questions and provided helpful comments.

A blatant spammy advert is annoying and lazy. It would be much better to instead offer assistance and advice regarding the product line.

Spamming in this manner is lazy and amateurish at best. I mean, seriously. In just about every field out there, it is much better to "show" than "tell". Don't tell us why Wera are the "best tools for the job", show us!

Show us an ounce of customer service, show us why we should choose Wera over Wiha, Snap-On, Klein, etc. Ask for input. Offer a contest. Ship out a sample or two. Explain why the weird shaped handles are beneficial. Ask us what we think about the handle design. Give us an example of which Wera distributors carry the full line of products.

Better yet, find a way to offer a garagejournal member promo or coupon code. Say, free shipping on $35 of Wera stuff from a particular dealer, etc.

I may not be a marketing professional, but I'm a hell of a consumer, and can recognize good marketing from bad.

To All Members.....

Please accept my sincerely apology. I am new to forums in general, and this one in particular, and it was not my intent to create such an passionate response. I thought that I was replying, in confidence, to one other member’s particular remarks regarding a comment about "giving German tools a chance", and did not realize that I was posting to an open forum.
Obviously, this is an excellent forum for tool discussions, and I hope that I will be able to contribute in a positive way in the future. Again, please accept my apologies, and thanks for your quick education in forum protocol! This will not happen again!!

I wholeheartedly agree. I wouldn't use them if they were given to me. If you want nice German screwdrivers taht don't look like someone stuck their old chewing gum to the handles, look at Witte.

Or, look at NOS Facom.

Its funny, the way they look never was an issue when i bought my Wera screwdrivers but then again I have an affinity for European and German designed products. I was more concerned about the benefits of the ergonomically designed handles; because my Wiha precision screwdrivers do not grip my hand that well, I was looking for another solution. I was pleased when I got them and I would say that are one of the few precision screwdrivers in the market that I know of that have ergonomic grip; this really helps you get stubborn screws out. The issue of the "look" of the screwdrivers may have gotten mixed up in the negative reaction to the "Wera Tools" posting etiquette. Call me a Germanophile but I like the way mine look!

I really feel you guys are venting your hostility towards a spam poster on the tools. I have Witte, Wiha, Felo, and now Wera screwdrivers. I like all of them but, your results may vary. By the way, my Snap on instinct screwdrivers aren't the prettiest screwdrivers in the world either. At least the poster manned up and apologized for what he did.

Hey the way I look at it, if the guy is handing out samples, I'd be glad to take a full set and comment on them. But then again.....

I think the screwdrivers look like **** and I will never buy anything from them after this. Spam is Spam. So it's ok to post it and then say "oh sorry"?

Maybe he/she's sincere. An apology is an apology, and I accept. If you stay away from a tool because it looks like ****, then that just leaves more high quality tools available for the rest of us.

I'd take the ugly crappy looking tools that work well over the pretty crappy performing tools any day. A lot of members have nothing but great things to say about Wera's tools to make them undeniably non-crappy in my eyes even though I have yet to try them.

Wera guys/gals - all is almost forgiven, at least from my perspective, and likely most of everyone else. Now how about doing as I recommended and showing us why Wera is the "best tool for the job". Some internal insight might work wonders...

Well...yes.

It's just typical message board drama. Tons of outrage about a paragraph of text.

To the original poster, a few questions.

. Who makes the sockets in the Wera and Apex Gripkit socket sets that come with the 1/4 Kraftform ratchets?
. How come Wera doesn't make a full set of sizes of nut drivers (nutspinner)?
. It would be cool if the t-handled nutspinners also had a socket coming out of the side of the handle ala the Beta Tools nut drivers.
. It would also be cool if you could buy Chisel Drivers with hard material handles so they would clean up better.

No but, he did more than some others that have posted ads as messages here by apologizing.
Choice is the beauty of this country and the board itself, you can express yourself freely and either buy a certain product or not. It's up to you to be happy with your tools and how you use them. I doubt Wera will go broke because people here think their screwdrivers are ugly. :spit:

Damn straight.

Old snap on guy pissed me off 5 minutes into the first time I stepped on his truck. He never got a dime from me.

I've spent over $1000 this year so far with the Snap on lady.

Exactly. They will never get any of my business. Will it matter to them? No. Will I tell other people I see in person or on other web sites to avoid them? Yes. Will that matter to them? Maybe not but word of mouth goes a long way sometimes.
Bottom line is they lost my business and probably others who read this but don't post.

That's what I was going to say too. Amazing how different the response is when a vendor asks for opinions instead of just rambling on about how great they are.

I vote to give the guy another shot. I'm sure he didn't realize he didn't have a chance that way. IMHO, the more company reps we get active on the forum the better.

The man said he was sorry get over it. Not everybody is up to speed when posting to forums. I remember when my dad first started using a computer and posting to forums, he had his caps locked and people wanted to string him up. I sure as hell won't let some green tool dealer stop me from trying a possible great line of tools.
