Well...here's my tiny haul for the week, starting with these sweet Kennedy parts cabinets… packed full of hardware for $15 each. The pictures don't really do them justice or show even half of what was packed in those drawers. I'd love to find some more of these… anybody have any more info on them?

Next up were a couple of older aluminum power tools…
A $5 B&D drill, $8 saw and two $10 sanders all work great!
I think I found my next obsession. :D

And finally the mixed lot of wrenches, pliers etc.
A couple are ones I already had but I snagged some new gems too.
I still need to take some better photos.

I also picked up these little cool old lights just because they were cheap… no idea what they're from.
Any ideas?

And not from a garage sale but… my girlfriend's dad brought me home this new Craftsman pro 3 pack just for the hell of it!

It was a good week.

Got a few items today for $14. The welding gloves are brand new and always come in handy. The 3/8" rockwell drill is in like new condition. The heat gun was a great score. My dad still has his same exact gun, but it's in FAR worse shape being in his bodyshop for God knows how long.

Don, nice parts cabinet! And the sander looks like a depiction of a space man in the 40's or 50's. I like the red lights too, interesting mix of stuff.

Great stuff guys. So much stuff I wish I would have found haha. Any way here is what I ended up with today. Some decent stuff in there. Mac and snap on wrenches. Snap, cornwell and SK sockets. Plomb wrench and socket. Also a neet Herbrand wrench I do not find many of those. US brand nut drivers. Assorted other US brands of wrenches and sockets. Some machinist stuff etc.

By the way what are the sockets with the odd drive on the right side. They were in a bucket of sockets I got.

Way cool. You guys are the bomb! Love that sander, Outlaw. And those red lights are curious, Don Miller! I've had LOTS of antique lights for vintage cars, bicycles, motorcycles, fire trucks, etc. But haven't seen lights like those. I see that they are electrified now...does the physical evidence suggest that they were once kerosene, or etc?

Sorry, Outlaw. I've been too busy to spend much time on computer today, and didn't read thoroughly.

Went to one of the coolest "man sales" I have ever found today...if you like OLD JUNK, old tools, old equipment, etc. (No baby clothes or Avon **** at THIS one!!!) Just finished saving about 70 Lo Rez photos to photobucket. No time to post tonight; have to get up early.

Might start new thread tomorrow, rather than hijack this one? Not sure. Also need to photograph the stuff I bought there.

Teaser photos:
SalepixLoRez1.jpg

More tomorrow or Tuesday, depending on my work schedule.
Cheers!

Next weekend I will get up early and try to hit some sales. I really need to invetory my stuff. But this last weekend even though I only spent $12 bucks I think I did okay. Need to get the kids to play with my phone to upload pictures.
I really needed another project, But think I'll enjoy fixing up that $7 dollar Snap On chest.

Don, those are the largest parts cabs by Kennedy I have ever seen. I've seen a number of them with maybe 5 drawers and about a foot deep, but not like that. I have seen military OD, cabinets, (no clue who made them) but not Kennedy's.

Great Score! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

There have been no sales today but I did end up finding a second vise out here.

I was heading out to the workshop to repair something and noticed a good sized Reed vise bolted to the bench. I'm gonna pull some stings to see if I can take it home so pics will follow if I can.

I was also invited to rummage through a basement at a relatives house, a few homes over. Most of the items in there are over 100 years old so who knows what I'll find down there. I'm hoping there is a workshop I can dig through.:bounce:

This recent sale is smaller, with more "equipment" (tractors, mowers, ATV's, hoists, bobcats, etc), but fewer car parts, and fewer modern automotive mechanic's tools....(I THINK)....so far. The teaser photos were taken on Sunday, of the entire sale...not the stuff I bought. On Sunday I bought only a few tools, because many of the best goodies were finally gone. Yet there was so much cool "man junk" remaining, that I had to take some shots of it all. On Sunday the old gentleman who is selling out recognized me from the day before, and finally invited me inside of his old workshop. Fortunately this time I had my camera so I could share what I saw there with you guys!

Those far right are the pliers portion, the two rings on the white box are the actual compressors, (The box was marked with 85mm, but there appear to be two different sizes. I just looked a bit closer at the rings, (I had only figured out that one went with the other after the pic was taken...) and also noticed some fainter markings on the box, and apparently those rings fit VW and /Corvair (at least..) One is marked 850-BVW, 2.592-3.267/75-83MM (so is probably for the VW and the box is miss-marked..); and the other is 850-BC 3-3/8 - 3-5/8.

Both cars I'm VERY likely to work on the engines...not

Picked up a heavy duty grinder today sterling packard corp bench grinder for $12. Need to wire in a new cable and switch but it works great and seems to be made very well.

Nice find there Patrick! best I've been able to do is a 60's 1/2 HP Craftsman Commercial 6" monument style grinder. I'd line to find one built like yours in an 8" breed, but those are few and far between...

Getting back to my haul from a week and a half ago, I had forgotten to unload two small side drawers which had most of the guys metric tools, and some tap and die type tools, (So I lied, twice, about this being all of it... this thing is like a bottomless pit...)

I had also mentioned I had her throw in a battery charger. it's only 6V but up to 20 A. so I'll probably use it for the E tank. it has a high setting and a trickle setting.

It's an old Schauer, and is vary heavy. I needed to redo the 6V leas as the insulation had disintegrated at the strain relief, (see pics) the rest of the insulation seemed OK so I simply shortened the lines and re-connected inside.

4 ? Taps and die
1 ? Chuck key

Thanks Outlawmws I have been looking for one for a while. And like you really wanted a larger one. Thing is I know where there are two big vintage grinders that are not being used and neither person would sell them to me :)

Had one estate sale this AM, and it was my favorite estate sale company. not a ton there, (I bought all the tools worth having, but I did leave a 20" Crown Craftsman carry box - just don't need another carry box unless it's really special..)

A couple of item I'm really happy about getting.

Clamps are always good to get, and all of these are cool old clamps, but the clamp in he upper right is uniqe. it's BeCu (Beryllium Copper) and its a 1 (and an eighth) inch bridge clamp. The other clamps are 1, 1-1/2, 2, 3, and 6" (I know the 6 looks like a 5 in the pic but I measured it and it's marked...)
attachment.php

2 Craftsman Sockets, (one needs a vinegar bath) and a 1/2" extension 2" long, al V series, A Giller round head USA rat. with an unusual beveled knurled ring for the selector switch, EMC scratch awl, and a 1/4" ball end allen wrench

attachment.php

Last but far from least, Two pairs of P.S. & W. Snips (aka Peck Stow, & Wilcox, aka PEXTO), Both with inlaid blades, both marked "East Berlin, Ct." so I'm relatively certain these are fairly early. how early? possibly pre 1900? :dunno: The larger pair is also my first pair of curved jaw bench snips, (this was how curves were usually cut in sheet metal prior to the invention of aviation snips, as they could cut a smaller radius than the alligator/duckbill snips).

The a 9" Auto wrench, (Not Ford but too dark to check for any markings in the garage...) and then the old screwdriver, on the flats of the blade there is an "8" inside a triangle, forged into both sides. (Anyone have a clue who might have manufactured this one?) The wood grips are a little loose, so I may give these a soak in linseed oil.

attachment.php

All in all, a decent quick AM stop for a Friday!

Stopped at a sale I thought would have nothing and I was wrong. This is mostly old L.S.Starrett stuff except the nice Goodell-Pratt #4 18" combination rule with 1 attachment. could not find the rest of them. I know they are in that house somewhere. $20 for everything.

12 LSS punches
1 LSS picking tool
1 LSS pin holding tool
2 LSS tap holders
1 Miller Falls tap holder
1 LSS radius gage
1 small LSS ID caliper
1 large LSS OD caliper
1 LSS #457 die makers square ($200 new)

Plus, got an old large 14 page Cleveland Twist Drill Ready Reference. Made out of thick cardboard pages. HAs copyright 1946 but I have no idea if it is that old.

Yes it is. It is definetly old because there is no mention of water based coolants on the Lubriucation Page. It is all oils and even lists Lard Oil as preferred brass lubricant. What the hell is lard oil? Funny thing was when I brought it up to the lady witht he tools she looked at it and was like 'This is neat". What she was really thinking was "where did he get this. Damn, we missed this". It was just burried on an old work bench. I snagged it immediatly.

Dang! I got an auto wrench identical to that one at an estate sale last week!

It looked cool to me because of the crescent style adjuster. Was it really part of a kit that came with a car?

I'll get photos of mine up soon. No sales for me this weekend, 2 birthday parties for 3 year olds should eat up my whole day.

good hunting everyone!
