I'm certainly going to look for the snappy/matco used CL route...but in the meantime...I can't afford something like that.

I actually really like this guy here:

I've read good things on this forum regarding Homak. I'm pretty sure I can get a $50 off coupon also.

I played with it in the store, and it feels WAAAY better than anything Craftsman I've touched.

Anyway, anyone have any other suggestions? I think Sam's and Costco sometimes have stuff on sale. I can check there also.

If you are using it for power tool storage. With larger draws of the viper is a good feature. For hand tools the homak has the better layout.

I noticed that. It'll primarily be for hand tools. The Homak is calling my name!

Anyone else got anything that I might be able to order online, that is comparable to what I've posted?

In the Midwest? Menards up here sells solid toolboxes, but they are only available in green.

HF also sells excellent boxes as well.

If you're on a budget go by Sears, Lowes, Home depot, etc and look for a scratch and dent or a returned box.

I just picked up a stainless top chest from Sears for 50% of retail. It was a return with a couple of dings but functions as if it was new

Almost got a similiar deal at home depot a few years ago when they went through their shuttering of stores. Didn't have cash at the time and when I came back later in the day it was gone

I have had the 41 inch Homak Pro for 5 years now and have been very happy with it. My only complain is that it isnt full depth, for 2 reasons. First you dont have as much storage and second, its tippy. I have dumped that thing twice now. but it still comes back for more.

its $100 over your budget but I love this

It's technically a service cart but I use it as my main tool tox in my garage. socket, wrenches, screwdrivers, and prybars in the open top all within easy grasp and lots of storage space. I still have an empty drawer. I do have a second box though and designate this one mainly for automotive and the craftsman is the odds and ends box

I'm getting ready to buy one of the 44" Harbor Freight boxes. My brother talked me into it. He works with a bunch of guys that have them and like them. They are as nice if not nicer than the Craftsman options but cost less.

There is a 25% 4th of july coupon, but like all HF coupons they do not work on tool carts. Also avoid the black ones, they are junky. The red ones is a good one.

Search for the harbor freight coupon thread. There is a "super coupon" to bring the 41 inch down to 349 You cannot use percentage off ones on toolboxes anymore. It's a beautiful box for the price

US General PRO are the good HarborFreight boxes. The ones labled storehouse or just US General are junk. The Red pro ones are as good if not better than comparable Craftsman, husky, kobalt. I spent a ton of time looking at boxes. They are a great deal for the money. Just make sure you unbox it at the store. Their shipping department *****..

The US General 44" Box is one of the best boxes you can get for the money. They only come in red now. Compared to the Craftsman selection at twice the price point, the HF box is still better. And that was 3 years ago when I bought mine. These days, there really is no competition. Stay away from the smaller 26" boxes, and definitely stay away from the black sets.

I have not had any problems with mine tipping over, but the shallow depth (24") does get a little bit annoying at times.
