i generally don't like round head ratchets, but my other wright stuff is so nice (and they warrantied my mini 3/8 ratchet so easily), i had to give the 10" 3/8 one a shot. and i want to see if i like the grip on the armstrong ratchets, so had to get one of those too :) couple other odds and ends too. i will say, i wish there was something like tooltopia's, 'buy $100, get free shipping' deal, but other than that, it sure is nice to have a customer service oriented company to buy from!

Made my order an hour or so ago.

A few weeks ago, I got to visit the store in downtown Kansas City, MO. If any of you are going to be in the area, stop at the store. Great people, awesome inventory and great prices. Well worth the stop.

I hope there'll be some left, I was tempted to get one... I might have to put in another order soon. :lol_hitti

I really don't have a single reliable torque wrench at the moment, so a $50 US-made one that will cover the lower range of torque values seemed like something I really NEEDED to get. That bumped the "I want" Armstrong Maxx flex out of the cart, since I have plenty of "regular" ratchets.

I can't believe the local paper didn't do a story on this. Hello, you've got a gem right in your own city, getting recognition by people around the world, and you're just going to let it pass? Really too bad.

Exactly one hour to go on my clock. Basking in the last rays of light of Epstein's Day.

I hope that those guys return to the store tomorrow and have their jaws drop when they check their computers. :D

I just made my order:thumbup:

Got the Armstrong 1/4" and 3/8" 88T's and 1/2' 60T ratchets! I've been eye balling those for a while and why not get them on this special day? Happy to support such a hard working and dedicated family owned tool company in the USA. Happy July 4th Neighbors!

A little under an hour left! I want at least 500 more orders placed.

Really though this has exceeded any expectations I had in mind when I first read about the idea. Great showing, folks. I'm sure they'll be nice and busy tomorrow. :D

Yes, another order! Thank you, my Canadian friend

Word-up to the bolded part.

I'm in love with this for a few reasons. Among them are that we have demonstrated our ability really to make a difference and send a message about something that we think is important. Imagine if all the people here who participated contacted Sears to make a point about Craftsman tools, or some other mega company. They'd be like "who are these ants"?

But a site like this and a business like HJE are nicely matched. We can communicate with them and we matter to them, and they matter to us. That's a beautiful thing in 2012.

Bought the 29 pc Norseman Super Premium Drill Bit Set. $99 w/shipping. Been looking at these for a while. July 4th seems like a good day to support an American small business!

I did my part. An S-K impact set, Some Bonney wrenches, a pair of Vice Grips I didn't have, camo duck tape, and the spool of Korean war era twine. I will say I like Epstiens if I get my tools when they say even better.

I personally am prepared for my order to be late. I mean, we just unleashed a tsunami of orders on them. I think Jori is the only guy doing custom box art, too.

So Jori, you have my permission to push my delivery date back to buy yourself a few minutes of breathing room if necessary. No biggie.

Just ordered after hemming and hawing all day. Removed and added and removed a couple items from the cart for another day. Ended up with the file card/brush, of which I have not seen in years.

Went with the Vaughn 8 ounce and the 2 pound ball pein hammers..... to help keep the truck running, with out hurting it to bad.

Grabbed 1 each of the Great Neck and the 100% USA tape measures. They are kinda like S&W's and Colt's, gotta have 1 on the hip, one in the kitchen, 1 in the tool bag, 1 in the pocket one in the glove box and a few other places.

With just eight minutes remaining, another order :rocker:

Also, I like the comparison of tapes to guns. I might borrow that in the future.

Sounds like lots of the same items have been purchased by several people (Armstrong ratchets for example). Hopefully folks are patient just in case they need to reload on inventory.

Think they'll tally up the days receipts and post? It'd be interesting to see what this sites clout is.

First order, first post. Thanks all for turning me on to HJE. I'd like to say GJ is a bad influence, but the truth is if I didn't spend it at Epstein's I'd spend it somewhere else. I'd rather support a small family business.

Picked up an Armstrong flex ratchet and some large Wright sockets.

Welcome! One post and you've already succumbed to the sickness. :lol_hitti

got mine in just past midnight eastern, but well before midnight central.

wanted to keep it under $100 and barely did so but then the wilde prybars just wouldn't shut up until they took their "jump" into the basket.

my order # was 12713, so, who placed an order right at midnight yesterday?

Is it just me, or is the 2nd day air option a little excessive?!

Mine was #12561, but it wasn't at midnight, much earlier. :D

I think overnight shipping via F22 Raptor would be cheaper than that, Hoss.

Yes, but it'll be flow to me by the newest of the new, the F22 times TWO... That's right, the F44 Raptor Raper! Also, I believe I should be getting my order in the next 20 minutes, and in the process, setting a new world record for delivery times while making the CEO's of UPS and FEDEX **** their pants simultaneously! Oh yes America, happy 4th, HOOYAHH!

Idea: on our "official" tally in the other thread that will open sooner or later, we should all include our order numbers as well as the total, the box (if art was requested :D) and the main part of the meal, the tools!

Maybe then we can get a decent idea of how many GJ orders were placed... but really, there's at least 150 orders taken that we know of (around 12550-12700+), and we should have been most of those.

Just placed my order, took me a long time to figure out what I wanted/needed. Ended up with a handful of air couplers, 2 carbide burrs, williams 6 in adjustable wrench, 9 inch channellock cutters, flexible magnetic pickup, 4 dentist picks ( ive always wanted real dental picks!) and a piston ring compressor.

Mine was order #: 12529 which I placed right at midnight EST. Looks like about 200 orders to me! That will certainly result in some delayed orders!

I'm surprised by the number of people who got the 36" Wilde pry bar. It just seems to me as a rather random item for a bunch of people to separately choose. On the other hand everyone knew that the armstrong wrenches were going to be popular.

Not sure if anyone else pointed this out yet, but I checked out your toolset on their site to see what you bought for $12.50, and noticed that after all this work to get this July 4th/USA thing going, that set ain't even made in them thar U.S.A.!!!!

I ordered some screwdrivers and NOS Channellock mini pliers.
Thanks Bull for arranging this, and thanks Jori and crew for running THE BEST tool store anywhere!!

I also ordered some USA Made Channellock mini's... 2 on July 4th, and 2 the week before.

Only small order on July 4th, but USA made Channellock's - I'm happy!

I absolutely agree, and intend for this to be annual.

I also think we should look at a winter event around the holidays, and also look at some of the other patriotic holidays.

Heck, we all buy tools all the time. Having a few Epstein's Days throughout the year isn't going to hurt anybody.

Careful not to make this a watered down event. July 4 is great, twice a year would be fine, more than that and people will lose interest. But i will agree we all buy tools all the time. I am sure Epsteins day brought in many first time customers (me), and also first time posters here at GJ. Looks like it was a great day for everyone.

I understand what you mean about watering it down. I'd be curious to hear from others how many times per year we should do this and still expect enthusiasm. I mean, for the tool obsessed, why would we be any less enthusiastic about buying tools and supporting a great family business if it was more than x number of times?

It is a concern though, and I am glad you brought it up.

The sticky at the top of the forum is now open for people to share their purchases once they arrive. I figured I would open it now since some people jumped the gun and ordered early, so those tools might be showing up shortly.
