Craftsman C3 Li-Ion Battery on Sale ...

Saw an ad in the Sears flyer today ... Craftsman C3 19.2 V Li-Ion extended battery on sale for $39.99 (that's $50 off). So I go to purchase on-line where the price was even lower ... $33.99. But I get a response that it is not available for purchase at this time. What a deal ... put it on sale for a smoking price but it's not available first day of the sale.

Just as well ... the reviews on the battery aren't that good anyways. I have the compact C3 19.3V Li-Ion and it has served me well, but I wouldn't mind having a spare at a good price. Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the C3 Li-Ion batteries (compact or extended)?

I just saw this as well, great price, not so great reviews, plus I have the NiCad only charger, but my battery is less than a year old and NOT doing well after less than a dozen uses.

If Sears won't warranty a battery for short life, I figure buy used and have them rebuilt with good cells.

I might be willing to risk the lousy reviews for less than 40 bucks, but not for $90.

I got 1 of these about 6 weeks ago with the battery charger and the weed wacker and the leaf blower I've gone through at least a dozen charge cycles one different tools and have no complaint yet. It last much longer than my nicads esp in my trim saw. I kind of remember looking in to all the neg reviews and I think they were mostly surrounding a bad batch back in 08 but I may be wrong. They are available now on the website.

I have one Li-Ion for my C3 set. It's a marked improvement over the NiCads. So far I've had no issues with it. My C3 stuff on the other hand is really starting to get beat up. It hasn't had the easiest life, but I expected them to hold up a little better.

I see they are available now on the website. There are still bad reviews continuing all the way up to July 2012.

Got 3 of them when my NiCads died. I didn't want to buy new tools just for the batteries. So far they've done fine. I see a big difference between them and the NiCads on how long they last in high draw tools like the impact wrench and skill-saw. I still have one NiCad that came with a tool about the same time I purchased them, it just doesn't hold up as long as those do. Just make sure those on sale are the larger ones as they have two sizes.

Yes, the one on sale is the larger C3 Li-Ion battery not the compact one.

I have 2 for my cordless impact and I've had good luck with them. I just tried to order another one (at that price I figure what the hell) and was informed that they're out of stock right now. It figures, put something good on sale for a good price and not have any in stock! Way to go Sears! (Boneheads!) (BTW, I have the large ones, not the compact ones)

Bummer it isn't available right now. I just ordered a compact version of this to have as an extra. The full size one has performed quite worked well for me, seems to last a very long time on a charge. I had it for....must be 3 yrs or more now. Instead of getting another full size, I went with a compact as the reviews claimed it lasted quite well but seems much lighter (think overhead work). The nicads leave a bit to be desired. They are usable and work just fine, but I rotate three of them if Im doing anything demanding...and that is only if I dont have the Lithium Ion at hand.

Hate these batteries. Very temperature sensitive. If you are doing hard work, like using an impact, the battery will just stop in a matter of minutes.

Seems like they're inconsistent then. I used my impact to remove the entire front suspension from my truck when I lifted it. Hot day, never really gave it a break, and I did the whole job with one battery.

Same here, I use my 1/4" impact all day long, running 4" screws. I move back and fourth between 2 batteries. Use them on the sawzall as well, big improvement over the nicad.

Man, do I love have free shipping. I will see how it preforms to my nicad battery. I got the impact driver kit during christmas time, good thing the charger it has does both.

Thats how mine was at first. I was very impressed. Now, the battery light shows green but it'll just quit.

Picked one up today at my local store for $39.99. I didn't feel like getting him to try and price match the online price. They were not marked on sale on the shelf and the employee was shocked at how cheap it was. Now I need to get me a charger for it!

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered on-line today for $35.99 and got the 3 year protection plan for an extra $6. There was some other incentive that gave me another $4 off so it came out to be a pretty good deal.

I use the C3 impact to rotate tires. The compact Li-Ion still reads green afterwards.

I wish I had the combo charger I would jump on it, but package I bought with the impact was NiCad only charger. I'm still tempted since chargers do show up used cheap from time to time, or with some other C3 item I don't have yet.

The Li-ion are worth it over the Nicad. The Craftsman Nicad is just plain crappy. At least with li-ion, the performance is more consistent during run-time. With Nicad, the power drops off the more you use it. My impact gets used once a few months and the battery already has power.

The battery cells in the li-ion are actually very good. It's the electronic side that isn't up to par, which is generally the case with bad batteries.

Picked up the battery I ordered on-line at the local Sears today. Had some extra time so I looked on the shelves for the same battery but none were found. These have a one year warranty on them.
