First off let it be known i have bought snap on tools for over 20 years and have roughly 20k in the hole. tonight i called the snap on warranty department about a chrome peel warranty on a snap on 1/2 ratcheting adapter and a snap on 3/8 breaker bar both started to peel chrome on working ends. i was told theyd ship out my tools and to destroy the old ones.. so i did i cut the breaker bar in half and beat the 1/2 ratcheting adapter with a hammer till it wouldnt turn at all..

i get a email today telling me that they need the old tools back i tell them i already disposed of them this is the response i got "we would have never told you to destroy them" i have the entire thing on tape and the persons name

So mail them back the destroyed items...
I wouldnt have destroyed them until I received the replacements :lol_hitti

i asked them if i could do that and i got told the tools need to be intact.. i never had problems before so i thought this would go smoothly

I was told by the ******* the phone to take my 7/16'' combination wrench to the metal scrap yard and she would send me a new one. I didn't believe her, so I went ahead and sent the wrench in. I ended up with 2 new wrenches that way. :D

They've always told me to dispose of the old tools after you get the new ones.

I have warranted a bunch of stuff over the phone and I would NEVER destroy the tools before I had the new ones in hand... That's just common sense.
Also, why would you tape the conversation? That seems odd.

My question is why in the world would one snap a breaker bar in half and then hammer the ratcheting mechanism til it's beat if the only problem was "chrome peeling"? Wouldn't you want to keep those just in case Snap-on decides to let you keep them? I read a post a few weeks ago on here that stated that Snap-on sent out 2 brand new ratchets free of charge to a member and they never said anything about returning or disposing of the old ratchets. Something is fishy with this situation. And it isn't Snap-on or their customer service department...

That's just a bluff, I'm sure he never taped the conversation. And if he did he prolly had his female friend on the other line posing as the Snap-on customer service lady. So to the OP what was her name? As I know a few people in that department since I have warrantied quite a bit of things in the last few weeks.

cause they been warranteed they no longer exist in my mind and if i keep it,sell it or continue to use it i would be cheating the system (2 tools for the price of one) guess its my morals

That is one of the ladies I spoke to in these last weeks but it still does not add up why she would say to destroy your "chrome peeling" tools. Either way it doesn't look too good on your end cause you have 2 useless tools and no1 to warranty them.

Had an FL936 peeling chrome. Let's not forget that this ratchet is $120. Called them up, told them the situation, they told me to keep the old one as a back-up, got a new one the next week. That is how it has been with all of my tools except for one extension.

Well, in Gamblers defence I just warranted a bunch of stuff and when I called I was told that the stuff would be shipped the next day to me. About a week later I got a shipping label in the mail to send my old tools back. Probably the people you talk to on the phone don't have the final say as to whether the tools need to come back or not.

Master Tech Heavy Equipment Mechanic here with maybe $300,000 worth of tools, All I can say about this is over the last 25 years I have had 5 different dealers and I have NO complaints about Snap-On’s warranty! Now their price sometimes I do have complaints! I still remember when my boy was 5 years old, and he first stepped onto a Snap-On truck, his truck said something like this “ There is a Difference” It was on the red bug guard on his van. My son asked him what was the difference? He said “Price That’s The Difference! Was a joke, but all I can say is, I have NO complaints about Snap-on's Warranty!

Why would you get rid of them before you got the new ones? Especially if you have OCD like you claim?
I would rip this guy's story apart on "tool court" if there was such a thing and I was a tool lawyer and was on the defense side cross examining this tard.
