No US-made Gearwrench.

This is one thing i'd probably go truck brand for, or look into the usual SK/Wright area.

I have a set of the CMs and they're pretty much guaranteed to strip a nut on every brake line i've ever tried with them.

I did just order a set, but they aren't US made.

Yeah I went HF on a brake line and, needless to say I am having to replace the line.

Truck brand is tough for non-pro's. Got a reliable source for SK?

I sure don't, unfortunately. Maybe try Epsteins?

Might be worth crawling around Cripe as well to see what they have.

those new ratcheting ones from ez-red and some others (import) are supposed to get tighter as torque is applied, looks like a good concept, haven't got my paws on any yet.

I had a set a craftsman that I really hated. They would round the nut off every time. Now I have an SK set that I inherited from my grandfather.I haven't rounded a nut of yet with them.Flarwnut wrenches is one them things that it is best to spend the extra money on a good set of sk or snap on.Stay away from HF as they will break on you.

I have tried the Craftsman set (avoid, IMHO), and later the Craftsman pro set that SK made (only slightly better, IMHO). My go to's are my Snap on's or my JH Williams made Kobalts (look like Snap on's). The later Kobalt branded ones I have seen, were by Armstrong, and I think those or JH Williams would be good.

If you need them now, get SK. Haunt ebay for a while and you should be able to pick up a 6-piece metric set of snapon wrenches for ~$80-100

I have Bonney in the "normal" 5 point and in the "10 point" style, makes life easier in tight places. I also have a Proto metric set.

You pay for what you get when it comes to tubing wrenches.

One of these codes should still work at advanced auto (find a filler item for CCABIN):
$35 off $85 Coupon Code: RAF7JA1102
$40 off $100 Coupon Code: CCABIN

there are some more coupon codes out there for AA, just look around.

What about just ordering 1 Snap-on wrench that you need? I think you are a BMW guy, and if i remember correctly, the brake lines on my E30 are 11mm, which would be a Snap-on wrench part number RXFMS911B. About 36 bucks, really not that bad when you know it wont strip out the nuts.

Yeah I am a BMW guy but the brake lines on my E34 are 14mm, E30 smaller, E46 smaller. So, it would be nice to have a set!

About a year ago I bought a new set from sears. Used it once. I now have a used snap on set. I think I paid about 80 for it used. Well worth it.

Are you in the rust belt by any chance? When I lived back east, the seized up fasteners would tax just about anything i threw at them. Ended up many times with vise-grips, chewing up the fittings just to get the job done.

The best flare nut wrenches....Snap On. A decent Flare nut wrench set SK or SK/Craftsman. I sure would like to get my hands on some vintage Proto's.

the few flare nut wrenches i've really needed i went with SO or older mac.

over the past 3 or 4 years i've added some std & MM that i run across used.
mac, SO, matco & sk all with little use, like new for under $5 each.

Yeah, it's too bad Proto stopped making the single-end flare nut wrenches, they were excellent.

That said, Proto combination flare nut wrenches are pretty good, or at least they were still a few years ago.

Google Proto J3700A and J3700AT

I have a set of snappys, gearwrench flex, crafty rp and crafty usa made pros.

I don't see a difference between any performance wise.

I don't have any of the chinese madse crafty wrenches so I can't comment on those

In the past if I just needed one I ran down to a pawn shop and bought a truck brand. A single usually runs $5-$10 per. Better that than wait or risk rounding it.
