IGO2XS, have you posted any pictures of your compressor and air lines. Are your air lines in-wall or exterior?

I have two compressors and i will get some pictures posted. My garage is block and i ran all the air lines in the ceiling and then down inside the block walls so they are concealed. All electric and central vacuum lines are in the walls as well. It is a little more work but it keeps the walls clean.

New developments at the garage in the last few days. About two months ago a friend of mine called me and asked me if I knew anyone who could restore a 68 Camaro. My ears perked up a little bit and I agreed to talk to this guy. As I have mentioned before I have a guy working for me in the garage trying to catch up on my projects. With a few Camaro restorations under his belt we decided we might want to tackle this project. We first looked at the car and it and we found a very interesting project. The wife had ordered this Camaro new in 1968 as her 16th birthday present and had kept the car all these years. It is an RS with a 6 cylinder. The husband who is the pitching coach for a major league baseball team (i don't follow sports) and I hit it off and I finally agreed. I picked the car up Thursday so I will give you a quick Friday picture and then a picture of the car today. Needless to say we are in the taking apart mode. We'll be doing a frame off and will keep it current original color.

Ok, I love checking out how things are going with this garage project. The loft is looking great. I now have a another reason to stay tuned in. I love 1st gen camaros. Of course I haven't seen a car/truck in the garage that I didn't like.

Bummer, I just bought a BlueStar myself. Talk about no frills...

I would much rather have a BlueStar over Viking when it comes to ranges, based on the experiences I have heard over the years from owners. That "no frills" generally means much, much more reliable.

thanks, we spent more time today on the camaro, front fenders off, grill......pretty much down to the frame. Leaving it together enough so we can get it started. When I picked up the Camaro I had to winch it on the trailer with a tie down strap because it had not run in months. We figure we will get it running before taking it apart. Because it was not running I never thought of getting the key from them when I picked it up. Just a slight dumb@@s attack.

He lives next door but I do miss that toad very much. Maybe I will steal him back!

Oh you should definitely kidnap him back.

You could launch a mission under the cover of darkness some night, so that next morning he's standing guard outside your garage again

Just a little Camaro update. The car is definitely getting smaller.:) Still waiting on getting the key from the owners so we are holding out with the drivetrain still in the car still wanting to fire it up before removing the motor. Today we started sandblasting suspension parts and that is definitely no fun in the Florida heat. We still have the tent set up outside so with a few fans we are keeping relatively cool. Luckily we have not found too many surprises in the body once the interior and all was out. Maybe one rear floor pan replacement. I was thinking today if this car had a V8 in it there might be more excitement in the build but all and all it is still a nice one owner car.

The garage loft project has stalled waiting on a few decisions. I am not installing a garage door in the build room opening as planned. It would limit the opening height to 7'6" which could interfere with moving a rotisserie in or out. Also I felt access would be inconvenient with such a large door not to mention covering up the lighting when the door is up. I am leaning toward the vinyl strip doors to isolate the room. They are clear to let light in, do not take up much space, and you can walk right through them. I am definitely going to use the corrugated metal as the siding on the exterior of the room to make it look "old". I have put an ad on Craigs list trying to find some "used" siding that might look more antique. I really don't think I want to put the new metal on there as I feel it would loose the effect.

Easy fixed as it is a must have for that section of the workshop. Tell her you need these doors to keep the place tidy. ;) I think Clive (Justanoldguy) will agree with me on that. ;):D

I can always count on you two guys for good company and advice:D

6 banger or not - that Camaro is awesomely clean! I'd love to be doing the resto on that one. Looking forward to the progress.

Just curious. If you're going through all the trouble to fully restore that Camaro, did you consider doing a resto-mod/clone job on it? Seems to me a tastful resto mod with a crate V8 might be more valuable than a 6cyl bone stock perfect restoration???? When well done "clone" Z28s, Yenkos, "Copos", and SS/RS clones are going for big bucks, I'd think about droping in a 396, munci 4sp, and turning this into a fake SS/RS. Since it would be a fake car, and you have it completely disassembled anyway, you may as well get rid of the puke yellow in the process. The end result would be a hell of a lot more fun to drive.

I do think that modding a really valuable numbers matching muscle car is stupid, but I don't think a 6cyl car will every be particularly valuable; RS ragtop or not.

I think you completely missed the
POINT of the restoration by not
reading the story about it in this thread. :eyecrazy::eyecrazy:

Good eyes there e-tek. we were quite pleased once the car came apart that is is in relatively good shape. I couldn't agree more with Sklyline however as Justanoldguy is pointing out, this is not my car. It belongs to a very nice lady who got this car as a 16th birthday present. I would love to just throw a v8 in the car but she wants it just like it is.............plain stock.

We finally got the key to the car today. We ran a fuel line straight from the fuel pump into a gas can because the fuel smelled bad. That darn car fired right up. :rocker: That was all we needed to hear and the motor is out. I will be back later tonight and i will post some of todays pictures.

Here are todays results!! The car is now less motor, transmission, and subframe. We rolled the car around back and tomorrow the serious sanding starts. I guess you can also see the inside of this garage is no longer a pretty picture!:)
