It looks like you did what we call in manufacuring "5-S" to your shop. All straightened up and clutter removed. I need to do some of that in mine now.
I didn't see if you mentioned: Did you get that portion of your parent's property zoned commercial? I have a buddy who has a fencing business that he ran from he home shop. It wasn't zoned commercial, and one of the neighbors started pitching a fit with the county. Big lot and he was a good neighbor to everyone, but decided it was time to move it out to a rental building. I can see both sides to the argument, and he never got mad about it. Yours looks a bit more removed, but all it takes is one PIA county inspector to cause troubles. Just a heads up if you haven't already addressed it.
Floor is really nice. How is the crushed blacktop stuff now that you have lived with it for a while? I have a lot of area to do and cannot affort to do it all in concrete or blacktop.

Great looking shop, well organized and well thought out. Nice to see some nice mix of german, american, and japanese cars as well. I own a shop in New Hampshire Tricked Out Motor Sports 10 years this past April. Tough industry without the support and push of your parents  Kudos to them wish i had that support over the years! I do mostly vw and audi custom work but have started doing some motorcycles and have done some japanese and american cars as well. Good Luck man!

I love that Monte Carlo Blue Pearl NSX! Looking to purchase one very soon! Congrats on front page!

That one in particular is Long Beach Blue Pearl.

If you're looking for a Monte Carlo Blue Pearl, only 97-99 and very few in number.
58 NSX-T in manual
7 NSX-T in auto
1 NSX Coupe in manual

http://www.nsxprime.com/wiki/Production_Numbers

Track. One has come a long way. You've earned the trust of the NSX community on NSXPrime, and that should net you a good deal more business. Congratulations on your triumphs. Your hard work has paid off and will continue to grow as time passes.

Planning and execution. They go hand in hand. You have done exceptionally well in both areas. Hope to see you complete your next set of goals.

All the best,

Ody.

Awesome shop and great story! I love seeing people chase their passion. My 2nd oldest brother and I are nearing the end of a year long disassembly, move, and reassembly of a 60'x48' pole barn on his property. In fact, we just passed structural inspection today. This will give him the space he needs to work on bikes and me a place to work on cars. It's more of a hobby for us since we're a bit older and settled into our careers, but we share your love of working on anything with an engine.

As it turns out, my oldest brother and his family live in Franklin, just off of Hillsboro Rd. I may have to arrange a visit to the Track. One shop next time I come down from Ohio, if that's alright by you.

Is that a customer's Dodge truck or yours? Any more pictures of it, I really like those.

Some guys have it. Most don't. You sir most assuredly do have it. Very impressive to say the least. Also, big props to your parents. Clearly raised you right. Most impressed by the way you are able to acknowledge their efforts with clear affection. Rare indeed.

I'd say good luck but you don't need it. Drive on.

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.
Everyone loves a success story, but it is so much sweeter with all the great photos, your determination and hard work, and the great pay off that it's given you. I imagine you have a long road of thrills and success ahead of you. Congrats.

Man. You have gone a long way in a short period time. I recommend that you should spend more time finishing up your facility. With the amount of work coming in, you need a good environment not a half-*** facility. I've been down the half-*** projects many times in my early years and those are many regrets.

We, men, aren't organized like most of the women, and that's where you need to spend more time and effort doing. Be clean and organize! In any servicing industry, professional or non-professional, being organize is very important in producing a great product. It's what makes a company/work sustainable.

good luck!

Thank you all!! It feels great to hear all the kind words and advice from others. I started this business with no experience and I'm always open to the advice from others.

It has been quite a while since my last update....and man, have things really started to grow!

We just wrapped up the E30 LS1 build...a few little odds and ends to finish but shes pretty much done. Mike Galley of HP TV called me and wanted us to bring both the Z06 and E30 to the show for a episode they were filming for HP Tuners. They also wanted our tuner Brad Mayo to be the one tuning the car on the show as well.

The Z06 had an awesome baseline of 474whp and 448 ft/lb's of torque. All we have power wise on the car is a K&N intake and Corsa exhaust. Brad was able to pull 507whp and 468ft/lb's out of her!

We had an awesome time over there and can't thank the guys over there enough for the opportunity. Looking forward to working with them more in the future!

I'll be back soon with some updates on whats been going on at the shop :) And I have a ton of people with questions that I need to reply to! Be back soon :)

Awesome work man. It's great to know the history behind a shop. I drive with the guys over here in West Tn. Traction Optional. You guys should swing out this way with a car for one of our events sometime!

p.s. I think my buddy does some business with you guys. He drives a white 4 door Civic Si. Front and rear JDM conversion. Ring a bell?

Well first off I just want to thank everyone for the kind words! It's always great to come here and read everyone's responses to this thread. I plan to start updating this more frequently with more detailed posts as well on the actually construction of the shop, and other shop projects I have going on.

I am also planning on making a move to a larger location by the end of the year. I need to expand and we have out grown this shop a lot quicker than I could have imagined.

Nice shop. How is that finish on the floor holding up? Would you use it again?

I would, I really like it. The only thing I need to do is re-seal it and it will be looking great again :)

Nice job. I like the way you word your post about the work being done in the shop. You use words such as we and ours, and not I or my. Pure class.

I didn't get here alone, and I like to give credit where credit is due. Even though I am here more than anyone, and put in the crazy hours....I still always treat this like a team effort. I appreciate it!

Exactly why I'm planning this move to a larger location. Right now I've been told I'm fine since my neighbors have no issues with me here...but with the rate I'm growing I want to move. Should be looking to make the move by the end of the year into a new facility...I can't wait! It's alright...it still is pretty loose and its easy to dig ruts in it...but I still like it more than gravel. It is definitely affordable that's for sure.

Appreciate it! It has definitely been tough...especially jumping in head first with no business experience. I'm very thankful for having such supporting parents. If they wouldn't have let me build the shop on their property I probably wouldn't even have a shop haha. This place is 40x60 with 16ft ceilings.

Nah it is a friend of mines truck...I have some nice truck pics I can throw up here soon though for ya!

I agree with you there...I just wish I had more time/money to get this place where I want it. I'm in the process of finally finishing out this office area and customer waiting area. Afterwards I only have a few more things I want to take care of before I try to move into a new facility. Appreciate it!

Even though I'm a regular follower of this thread, I just went back and reread the first page of this thread.

This stood out to me.
I also had recently set up a fund raiser for the people affected by the Tornado outbreak in Alabama...I was able to raise over $1000 in two day's after the storm hit and Ike and I drove down there and I helped out in some of the hardest hit area's for that weekend...

THANK YOU.

Keep up the great work. Inspirational.

Not only a great shop, but a great success. I hope the move goes well for you. Be careful not to bite off too much with the move. I know a couple guys that expanded as business picked up at their performance shops only to have the new overhead eat them alive.

The Z06 seems to be around your shop all the time. Is it yours, or do you just store it for a customer?

I'm curious what your plans are about this "new shop"? Do you plan on closing the current one and moving everything (maybe even the building?) to the new area? Or running two locations at once?

I'm also curious about the finances. Have you repaid the business loan already? What are your plans there? Continue financing or pay everything off asap to be free and clear?

You gonna build a house soon or keep renting?

Finally got a chance to read through the entire thread and I am very impressed. Look forward to following along with the shops progression! I am around your age as well, built my first truck with my dad when I was 11, then bought a 1991 Toyota MR2 when I was 15 and completely built that. Now I have a 2006 Honda s2000 and 2012 Ford Raptor. If I could have the time away from work I would love to have a shop like yours!

I wouldn't be the man I am today without them, I can't wait to spoil them later in life when I find success :)

Thank you! And yeah, I'm being very cautious with growth. Luckily I have a very successful business mentor giving me any advice I need along the way. It has definitely been invaluable for someone like me who has been learning as I go. The Vette is my buddies and we take care of it and prep it for track days..loveeeee that car!

Just gonna keep renting for now, I'm at work so much I don't have much time for a house yet. Right now I'm looking at some places in Nashville that I can grow into. One place belongs to a very successful business owner that has been a mentor to me as I've grown. I dove into this with no experience at 22 and now I'll be 25 in November...kinda crazy how far this place has come. I don't want to discuss my financials much on a public forum but I am still paying off my existing business loan while trying to make a move. With my new fabricator starting the 15th of this month along with my current full time tech..I'm really pushing it with how much room I have. Not to mention not having high speed internet, running water, etc.

Thank you all for the support and advice, I am still young and have so much to learn. Looking at this forum and the amazing garages and houses many of you have built is always an inspiration to me.

Well on to the pictures! There has been so much going on I don't know where to start! haha

2007 F430 and 1984 308 gtsi came in recently...the 308 is still here needing quite a bit of work actually. I'll be back tomorrow with more updates and more info....of course I'm posting up at 1:14am and worked all day on labor day...gotta love it!
