Cornwells August Flyer

I don't think this has been posted before but if it has I apologize. I was poking around the Cornwell site and if you open up the current flyer July 2012 and change the month to August you can flip through next months. You could also go backwards I only went to June of last year but don't have much time to do more poking around before my lunch ends.

That is the other thing, I didn't know they were imported until I peeled the plastic off of them package and saw the made in Taiwan on the backing cardboard which they had placed a Cornwell sticker over on the plastic shrinkwrap. I had ordered these becausey Cornwell dealer barely stocks anything.

My hardline ratchets aren't . I bought them used on eBay assuming they were 100% and they came with no COO stamp at all. According to Cornwell the body is made in PA then assembled in in OH with Foreign internals . So much for the propaganda they always advertise.

I thought one day last year I was getting a good deal on some used (Mac) pliers turns out i overpaid and to make it worse the guy tells me" oh they are made in the USA' Wish that was true now made in China. It looks like more and more of the truck companies are headed that way in some form or another!

That 3 ratchet set on sale is imported. I have very few problems with them.

The hard line ratchet is still made in the US, The guts are imported. I don't know what it is, but I was told legal reasons was why USA was taken off the ratchet.

I spoke to my dealer and told that these were on sale for159 in August 2011 and then again in May 2012 for $169 so I said if they are coming up for sale again I'll be pissed (I didn't tell him about the Auguest flier). He left me a voice mail earlier saying that I have $130 credit waiting for me. So I must say that he is at least a stand up guy.

That's probably the same reason why the Snap-on F80 is not stamped USA. Doesn't matter to me, I know where they're made at.

unless i absolutely need it i try not to. Imported hand tools usually end up on sale and often times the discounts can be pretty large. Case in point Cornwell roto ratchet.

Roto ratchets are made in taiwan. Basically anything with plastic as a component is imported for Cornwell. 72 tooth ratchet bodies are made here but use ratcheting mechanisms made under license in taiwan so no USA on those. The old school ratchets are 100% made in the USA and are still stamped as such.

I'd be surprised if franchise dealers are given greater margins on imported tools versus those made in the states. Chances are the cost savings was either used to prevent price increases from being past on to consumers or to pad corporates balance sheets. It might happen, but I'd be surprised.
