Taps and tap/drill sets were dirt cheap at the Lowes today, like under a buck cheap. Picked up 6 random pipe and small screw sizes for under 5 bucks, already had the rest so no need to hoard!
No pics, away from home this week and no camera:(

I can confirm they have them on clearance. Picked up a drill and tap kit for $7, some misc taps for a buck or so a piece, and a tap handle for cheap (couple bucks I think).

They also have Kobalt socket sets on rails on clearance (under $10), for those that are into Kobalt sockets.

I also got a few 4 dollar bottles of cutting fluid for 76 cents!.....if your store has them, look in the air tool area for more, those were not marked for clearence but were priced as such.

My store was pretty much cleared out of the taps, but I did pick up a tap handle for $1.74. I also picked up several screw/bolt extractors for under a buck each.

I just picked up a 26 Piece SAE Tap/Die/Drill set and an extra T-handle for just under $15 after tax. I would have loved to pick up a metric set but there is not a store near me that has them in stock for like 50 miles. Not sure what in the world I'm going to use an SAE set for but still a pretty sweet deal. Wish I would have found a 46 piece set in my store like a member above I think that would have been ideal. Thanks for the heads up OP

Ran to another Lowes just to see if the prices differed from store to store and found a 26. piece dispite what the site said. It was the older packaging which is a square grey case #232549 for $12.15 before tax also the cutting oil was ~ $3.97 only 10 miles from another store where they were just above a buck o_O The 26 piece SAE set is part number 323550 but its a pain to find on the Lowes site and at the last store I was at the SAE set was ~ $8.97 so the prices will differ from store to store.

I don't think it would be worth stocking up on unless you were going to try and sell a spare set on say CL for a little more than you paid. One set I bought said no questions asked "warranty" while the other one didn't so who knows. I figure each set is the price of a decent burger so its worth it just to have it lying around just in case. Not really enough for anyone to miss for a long period of time but that's just me.

I picked up a 26 piece Metric set, older square grey case, Made in China for $15 clearance price. So as previous poster stated, clearance prices seem to vary.
