Power probe III

Recently I purchased a pp 3, been waiting for an chance to use it, finally came. Yesterday, RO states rear brake and turn signal not work, out came the powerprobe, in momements verified had good ground, and power and the fault was actually the light. So money well spent. Would have loved to get ahold of the new pp hook, but the price is a little too high for my tastes.

I love my power probe. Haven't pulled out my test light or dmm in a long time. Also cleaned up my electrical drawer of all those different jumper wires I made!

Love my Power Probe III. Still getting the hang of all the different ways to use it. Incredibly handy troubleshooting a Linear EGR valve on a friend's Blazer.

Sorry to hijack a bit but I'm trying to figure out what to buy. Do I need the master combo kit or what? Can someone explain what one should consider when buying one?

Master kit is cool, but I bought just the pp3. You can use standard mm leads and accessories with it and not pay the premium for pp's gold plated ****.

about my only complaint about the pp3 is the cord length. It comes with a long cord that gets in the way. I wish it had just a couple inches and then the "connector". then they give you the option of different size cords to plug into that. its kinda a pita dragging that cord out.

The PP3 is good except the switches break. They can be replaced. The threaded part where the probe goes has popped out with the tip. No big deal either to fix. Otherwise, good tool to have. I actually wish the cord was longer sometimes!!

Darn it, now I want the Power Probe Hook! Downside is though...that thing is ridiculously big- like replacing my cell phone with a military field radio brick. I think my Power Probe 3 will always have its place.

Why don't you just shorten it yourself? I don't find it a problem myself, I've found myself using 2 extension cables diagnosing faults on long truck and trailers.

I agree. I use a magnetic hook, and wrap the excess cord under hood, etc.

I have the PP2. It is really one of the best tools I have. A few guys around the shop have the PP3. The VM is cool. I am sure I will upgrade at some point.
