Howdy all,

I rent a 20 x 30 storage unit with a roll up door. There is a large gap at the top that allows some dust and cotton bunnies into the unit. I'm looking for ideas on how to minimize the problem. I plan on building shelving along the back wall and sides. I also plan on building a worktable on one of the sides.

TIA

George

Holy small world! My new building has three doors with that same gap issue. I'm worried about birds getting in and nesting. I searched all over the web for an OTS solution but found zero, zip, nadda.

I need to address my garage door before winter, I am notorious for being out nailing up trim and **** when its 10 degrees out.

The normal solution probably is not possible since you rent the spot. If you call up a local overhead door company, what they use is a long piece of aluminum with long nylon type bristles attached to one side. They put it all around the door when you want to minimize air flow. However it requires being screwed into the usual metal around the door (or in your case drilled into the blocks.

Yep, a brush seal at the top. Tell the landlord, he'll probably send out a door company.

Another cheap idea is a long flap of rubber, a conveyor belt or something like that.

I'm sure the manufacturer would sell you some, but i'd bet there is a rubber flap between the hood and the roll...
