Hey, I'm getting a a bare pelican case (model 1690) to take my PC to a convention soon. I have some padding but am looking for something to line the top and bottom with. They come with some 1" thick foam so trying to find something similar cheap. If you have any ideas I'd appreciate it
Thanks,
Brian

I dont know if they sell it seperate, but we buy transport cases all the time. Iside they have foam that is layered about 4" thick, each layer is perforated so you can pull out 3/4 inch squares the full 4 inches. In this way you can form fit the foam around the device in the case.

Beware of the pluck-and-pull foam. It will eventually harden and leave oldhardfoam grit in whatever instrument you may be trying to protect.

Had to have an entire Hasselblad system CLA'd because of that ****.

Im a Trade show Exhibit builder, We have packing challenges all the time. Call these people, if you can wait for shipping they do custom foam for anything. If you have a CAD drawing of the shape they CNC cut it to fit exactly...

Ok, the padding is a little less appeasing than I was hoping for and the other solutions while good are most likely more than if I just bought a pelican case new with foam. I got this case for a decent price, I have 3 pieces of the pluck foam as well. Just wanted a nice little bed for my PC to lay on. ;)
Thanks,
Brian

This.
You can get hunks of 1-4" thick upholstery foam at any local craft/fabric store. If it holds up to butts, it will hold your computer just fine.

i think i actually got mine trash picking a couple couch cushions.

i had an old samsonite hardshell briefcase i used to transport handguns to the range.
