Well, it's been a long while since I've started a post. I thought that I'd share some pics of my house and garage patio build. Also, I finally made progress on the landscaping. The house and garage are only separate by 10 feet but from the back door there is a deck and new patio. Along the house and garage I built raised flower beds with solid tumbled Manor Castle blocks. The patio and beds were built over the heat of last summer. I didn't get much planted last year but this year I finished the plants and added lighting.

here are some build pics:

I'm thinking of adding a fountain and fire pit/pad next to patio. It's between garage and house.

383 240z. That's an awesome rig. I had a YJ with leaf springs. They have there advantages but I wanted something a little safer and better driving as a daily driver.

Super nice! I really like the way the deck leads to the patio and the grill has its own place.

I've got in-ground flower beds on wither side of my front steps that I want to do away with but had no idea what to put in their place. You've given me something to consdier with raised beds.

Thanks.
Many houses in the south have crawl space foundations. I wanted to hide some of the foundation wall. For the patio I wanted a court yard kind of space. There is plenty of room to walk around chairs and fire pit.
Along the garage I wanted to hide the block foundation.

I moved the matching gooseneck light from the back to the side door. Now I need two lights for the back if the garage. A security light and a light for the top of the stairs.

Did you just stack the block or use some kind of cement/adhesive to make your pit??

These are the "castle block" from lowes. They are 4"X 8" X 12" tumbled solid and colored concrete blocks. They are on foundation of tamped earth and stone. The top two courses are glued with landscape adhesive sold in the caulk aisle. This works great up to about 5 courses. These ARE NOT MEANT TO BE FOR RETAINING WALLS. The whole fire pit is glued above the bottom two courses because of the varying levels. The fire bricks were harder to find. Not sold in big box stores anymore. I had to drive about 40 minutes to the nearest brick yard. I filled in the pit almost up to the top. The fire bricks just lie inside and I filled all small gaps with sand. This seems to work well. I wonder if this would work in a more northern climate with freeze thaw.

What's going in the empty space opposite the grill? Looks like a great spot for a vertical charcoal smoker!

That IS going to be a charcoal cooking and grilling pit. I lined it with firebricks, which are dry laid on a sand bed. The base, back, sides and capstones are glued with Landscaping adhesive.

Now I just need to put the gutter back up and touch up the paint.

This end piece was harder than it looks.

I've wanted to finish this project for a long time. I'm wiring some LED lights under the edge of the capstones on the raised beds.

They are waterproof and run dusk to dawn with a manual operation switch. It's completely custom and I wired the transformer and switches myself.
