Anyone try the Craftsman Figure8 wrench?

I posted about the Figure 8 wrench back in January (figure 8 preview via TG), but haven't tried one out for myself yet. I really don't plan to either as I'm not really into all-in-one type wrenches.

Just wondering if any of you have tried it yet.

I've recently seen it described as "the best wrench" and "the most versatile wrench available," and chalk it up to gadget writers not being intimately familiar with tools.

Still, my bias could be wrong. Did any of you try out the wrench and like it?

I've fiddled with it at sears. I personally don't have a use for it but others may.

I see this wrench being in a apartment dwellers tool box for assembling IKEA furniture or perhaps somebody who build decks.

Of course this is GJ so somebody will step up to the bashing position

As a collector of 'multitool' and outright gimmicks it intrigues me. But not enough to pay full price for. I'll wait for a used one or fire sale and get one cheap to play with it on home projects.

That said the B+D electric adjustable wrench is only a bit cumbersome and still quite useful as a tool. Cam wrenches and potmetal dogbones are not up to even minor jobs most times.
I see a bit of hope for this 'figure 8' wrench but not in a flat rate shop.
I too am interested in a POV from an owner of one. Using it would be the only way of knowing.

Ikea furniture makes heavy use of hex keys - I don't think I've ever seen hex nuts or bolts. In any case, that's my feeling as well. BUT a lot of similarly styled tools don't even work well for DIY purposes.

I dismissed it early on, but recent positive hype makes me wonder if I'm blinded by my bias.

I would use one in my tool bag. Close to 95% of the fasteners that I deal with are socket head cap screws, but occasionally I run into a nut or hex head.

I took my time with it at Sears while waiting for service. It requires too much room around a fastener to be useful, the dog paw shape puts me in the mind of a prostesis. After all that, it's priced a good distance from the dollar store where it should reside.

I suppose it might be useful for a bicycle or motor bike tool kit...
