Hey every one Im 16 and I need a work shop. I just moved into a new house in Jax Fl and it has a 4 car garage with a side room tacked on to this detached beast. If you have ANY questions please feel free to ask them, after all I love talking about my plans. Ps the junk in there will soon go.

Oh, and are you renting or is it your family's place?

Not to shabby a pallet to improve on. I wish I had something like that at 16. Pictures of the garage doors please (Glass panels?).

If that Proto chest gets in your way I'm your guy.

I spot a couple vintage toolboxes! Nice burglar alarm panel :p

Haha yeah you do, and thanks that is my first project, some glass break sensors, electric RFID locks (Did I mention that I want to be an electrical engineer?), a loud alarm, cameras (we have some from our old house), along with motion sensors, and motion lights. Iv got to keep all of my stuff, well, mine.

To be honest I don't know but that's a great question and once I figure it out Ill post it!! Ill try not to keep you waiting to long, within 24 hours sound good?

Yeah I know I do, If you or any one else for that matter have any tips, or recommendations on what to do with it me and my dad are open for Ideas.

Its my families, we got in in a short sale, it took 7 months to get it, but I think that you can tell....It was WELL worth the wait. So yes we can do whatever we want with it.

Yeah I know Im really lucky, my parents have worked hard to get to where we are, and Im glad. Also yeah their the original fiberglass ones from the 50's!! They are almost see through when its dark out and the lights are on inside the garage. I want medal ones but Im kinda split because they are so cool and old. Then again someone could take a knife and cuts their way in. So its going to up to my parents (they would pay for it so Ill let them handle it).

Ill get you that pic within the next few hours hopefully.

Keep up the good work! I'm in IT myself but I know several electrical engineers. Always good to have them to refer to!

Ha, I didn't know there WERE "4 car garages" in the 50's!

What are your/your parent's plans for this garage? I read you said you want to carve out a work area for yourself. Have you set aside a space and if so what do you plan for it? It's going to be fun to watch this come together. Keep the photos coming!

I know, but 4 fit in there just right, haha. Or you could fit a Fleet of smart cars!!

But to be honest I dont know what the long term plans are, because its not tall enough for a finished off 2nd floor (like an office above my work space). but I think we will do some storage up there, in the back. Also I have the back left "parking space" I think that we will make the Back right "parking space" part of the side room (MANCAVE!!!) when we finish it off, but honestly who knows. This stuff isnt cheap, I only get $8.25 an hour as a guard (which is good for 16) and I want to go to Carnegie Mellon for my doctorate in Electrical engineering, so that cost ALOT. Also my parents don't want to do all that much with it so that means that it gets put on the back burner, so it may be awhile, just subscribe to the thread so you don't forget about it if my next big post is in like 2 months. So If you have ANY ideas I'm open to them. Thanks,

Take that pickup to some garage sales and find some low-cost shelving, then get all that stuff off the floor. I know you've got limited funds, maybe check my thread...I did a lot of stuff on the cheap. Then fill it with tools and stuff before your folks have a chance to fill it up with garbage! Just kidding. No wait, be respectful. Enjoy this space while you can - that is a great setup with tons of room.

If your parents are letting you have that space to yourself and projects (except for their cars), you just hit the teenager lottery!

Good looking space. I have to ask, is all the stuff in there moved in with you or was it left by the previous owners? If left stuff the first order of business I would have is to remove as much as possible from the property as it is just junk.

Yeah, I just got my license and Will start school in about 2 weeks (I go to the #3 school in the nation, and it is HARD(got to get that SAT score though) So I wont have much time for anything starting soon. but I will check out what you did and Ill try to fing dome Ideas, also my parrents see moving all that as like the last priority, bc we have so much to do to the house (after all it was built in 1923 (the garage was added on in the 50's).

Didn't I?? haha, but like I said before its low on THEIR priority list, but when we Finnish off the side room, you know that I will be spending some long nights in there watching GEERZ, TruckU, Two guys garage, and working on my projects, cant wait!! Also they want the trailer in there....Thus meaning I get A. a work space, or B. a parking space...Hmmm well too bad for the truck!!! Its only 16 (a '95), and it has lasted on a farm and in construction this long, Its already at 200,000 miles, So it can deal with some weather, after all its only city driving for this thing now (For now, cant wait to custom build that 4 link and Long travel I-beam Sitting on some Fox racing shox!! Then rebuild that Ford 4.9 300 I-6).

Its actually ours, we emptied out what was there before we moved in, we had ALOT more room in our old house (3 living rooms) So we already got rid of 2 suits and I know you see that some of that is good (Foosball table, tool boxes (and boxes of tools) haha,
