So I came across the scanner on craigslist they're asking offer is $40
I have never actually used a reader/scanner but I know this would be useful Just not sure if that price is right and if It's actually good, would like some insight on this.

-Thanks!

Actron makes decent scanners for clearing codes. The one we have you can see some of the engine parameters, but it is not that model so i do not know if that one has this function.

I have an Actron CP9175 which has performed well. It is pretty much just a basic code reader, nothing fancy. The plastic case is durable and it comes with a long cord. Not much more I can tell you about it.

Well even at $40 would you guys say that's too much to pay for this being used? Or that sounds about right? I know some readers when the code is read it displays the actual definition of what the code means, does this one do that?

I heard that actron reader/scanners have lead in the plugs and u should wash ur hands after everytime u use it. If u want a scanner for home use i recommend matcos md1022 quickscan. Not only does it read codes it gives u the definitions as well also u can erase codes, turn check engine lights off, freeze framing, live data and its updateable. Matco lists it for $108 but my dealer gave me one for $70 and i think i saw them new on ebay for that much. Its an awesome scanner/reader

I've borrowed an Actron scanner from Advance a few times and it had a sticker on the cord saying it contained lead or something else hazardous.

Yeah they have a warning sticker on them about lead, i never worry about it though, im sure handling bars of lead and ammunition is much worse.

Just speculating but I'd bet that the lead warning sticker is for compliance if sold in the state of Kalifornia or some similar BS.

Actually, it also erases codes and views freeze frame data, according to the manual.

The Actron is still listed on Amazon by a 3rd party seller for $195. There are several on ebay for about $75. The manual is still available on the Actron website.

If it works, $40 or so doesn't seem like a bad price.
