That's a helluva deal and I love all my IR tools. I've got the Sears branded cut-off tool like this, handy when you gotta have it. Wish I needed another - I'd order this IR.

I went ahead and ordered one. According to the website, free in-store pickup was for some reason not available to me within a 50 mile radius. After shipping and tax, I am looking at a bit under $38 shipped. Still beats any online price I could find in a quick check for this model. I really need one of these. You know what my only "cutoff" tool has been for years, including when I need to cut exhaust pipes or metal on cars? A Dremel with a cutoff wheel. Talk about pathetic!

I will be very happy to add this to my still small collection of air tools.

^^ a dremel with a cut off wheel > that made me laugh

You laugh, I cry. Do you know how long it takes to cut four relief slots in a pair of mufflers with a Dremel in order to get them off without damaging the pipes? Or how long it takes to cut a section of floor pan out with a Dremel? I do :willy_nil:lol_hitti

I was poking fun, I know how it feels to not have the right tools

Before I posted the thread I ordered one. Luckily I had about $13 of reward points that were going to expire in the next few weeks. So, I'm happy. Now I need to buy a compressor big enough to run it.

You should have done the free shipping thing a few months ago, you get free shipping with sears

Mine was $30.81 to my door

They want $7 to ship it (not available within 50 miles). Anyone know a Sears free shipping code?

Bull you must have a lot of patience!

I just didn't have any compressed air at all in my shop, so had to make due with the tools at hand. Lame, but my fault.

How do you guys get free shipping when some of us cannot? Why do some of us get this message about no free in-store pickup available within 50 miles? There is a large Sears at a mall about 15 miles from here, and one of those small Sears stores that sells mostly equipment about four miles from here.

I already received an e-mail saying my order has shipped. However, when I click on the tracking link, the UPS site tells me no info can be found. No rush, I'll just be glad to have this in my box!

Maybe that was their plan all along! :D

Sears is weird in that send the package US mail to the local UPS place, and then deliver it to your house via UPS.

Atleast that has been my experience with them.

You can go into sears any day and have the kid with the Ipad order it and he can code it for free delivery to your home or to your store and then he will also ring it up for you. I have done this many of times.

This is a nice tool to have for cutoff work, just remember you need a BMF air compressor to supply the CFM that these tools require.

Uhh, how big? I didn't think to look at the CFM specs. I think I have a CH 60 or 80 gallon with a USA made cast iron motor, but I do not know the CFM on it. :dunno:

I posted that same deal a few month ago in this forum and it did not seem to drive the excitement that I expected it to.

I bought one back then due to your post. Thanks! :)

Your average 60 gal compressor is right around 10 cfm @ 90 psi. The requirements of the tool are listed anywhere from 18 to 25 cfm under load, 10 cfm no load.

Actually, if you live in the sticks and only have a Sears "hometown" store, you can not do that. No kid with Ipad, no kiosk, no way to order from the store and get delivered for free. Hence the reason I asked how people were getting free shipping.

Zoinks! I better determine what the specs are on my unit. Don't regular shmoes use these tools? Sounds like some serious air requirements.

Don't worry Bul, it will still be faster than your dremel.

Even if my compressor is sorely underpowered for the tool, will it actually work?

I was looking at CFM ratings even for large and expensive 80 gallon units and they don't out out the upper-ranger numbers that this tool seems to require! :eyecrazy:

Yes. The CFM rating of the compressor is the sustained CFM. Basically, what the pump is capable of.

Once the tank is filled, the tank is able to supply a lot more CFM than the pump is.

So you can use the tool on just about any compressor, but you have to let the compressor fill back up once in a while.

Yep, you may just end up waiting on the tank. Technically, if you could get 90psi out of your fireplace bellows the tool would work for a second or two. If you're cutting a bolt off or making a quick slice, it'll be fine. If you want to chop the top of a hot rod get a big compressor or find your happy place so you don't end up throwing your new tool acros the shop.

One of the things I liked about this one when I bought it was that it has a speed regulator. Now that I have it I can't think of a reason I would ever want to slow down a cut off tool. Is there are value to going slower that I can't think of?

I've never wanted to slow mine down. Much like a Dremel these work on speed, not torque so much. So it needs to spin fast to get the job done.

The Klutch ones Northern is selling are reversible. I guess that'd be nice in some situations.........maybe. Assuming the wheel retaining bolt would stay tight, and I suspect it would.

or the opposite: UPS which delivers to the post office, which then delivers.

which supposedly is happening for my premium ratchets. Let's see if the USPS finds my house tomorrow... (don't ask...)

I have developed an appreciation for Taiwanese tools. If I can't buy USA, and need to go with an Asian source, I have no problems with Taiwan. They aren't some third-world slave state.

How do you guys like these cut off tools? I am thinking about buying one. I will have to pay full price. The trigger looks weird to me.
