I have been "on the bench" since last Friday so, I started looking around for some tool info online and I found you guys...

Well, I've seen some really impressive DIY projects on here in the week since I joined and I realized I needed to do something about the state of my garage. Nothing so cool as what I've seen (tight budget). However, I think I've improved half of my garage, so far, and it hasn't cost me one red cent.

Here's what I began with:

Some color; Behr paint rocks, btw...

I bet a lot of guys aren't going to like that color, but I do. Only thing is that it is going to make the space less "bright" overall than a gloss white or similar.

Id drive the **** out of a plum crazy purple cuda or challanger, maybe not the color of my garage unless I had one or the other. The site is addicting and make you want to do more than you ever have time for.

I like those walls, too. Back 40 some years ago, Chrysler was actually going to call that wild plum color: Statutory Grape. The claim was that lawyers blocked that, I do not know if this is true, but is sure makes for a good story!

I'm painting the remaining wall to the right (not in view) white and the back wall white... I have gallons of it. Since that was all I had, I asked for something else. In addition to the purple, (plum crazy?) I got a free can of the blue/gray that I covered the peg board with. Eventually, (either this or next weekend) I hope to paint the white and then, on the right wall, (you're viewing the left wall) I plan on cutting the gray with white to have a lighter gray color. Also, I have another 4' x 8' pegboard to hang, on the rear wall. It'll get the carpentry and gardening hand tools; mechanic's tools will remain over the bench.

That's not a surprising response, bronc! A friend of mine gave me a ribbing about it, too. I knew I had it coming! Ha!
(I asked my neighbor if she had any leftover paint and that's what I got.

Nothing wrong with anything free. Use what you got its not permanent.

Actually, my girlfriend is from Boulder & she's an amazing sports fanatic!

Looks uhhh purplelicious!

The last garage I painted I emptied the basement of latex paint and started mixing in a 5 gal bucket. Long story short, I couldn't take the pink for more than a day. I added some black and had the coolest grey/purple. When I ran out I took a sample to Menards and they matched it perfectly, and a gallon was enough to finish. I painted the whole thing for the price of an elcheapo gallon to finish.

Here's the "grand finale" of this first part of my garage renovation...

With the gray shelves and red C'man box, the wall color is not so dominant.
I like how it turned out!

The best part... I can park in my garage, again!

Thanks for the inspiration to get off my a$$!
Now, I just have to finish the rest of the garage.

I'm hoping the color will attract the car, in my future; either a 1970s-vintage, or a modern update!
