My grandfather gave me a tool the other day and asked me what it was. The guy put together a '40s Mercedes from boxes back in the day but for some reason was thinking this thing was a ruler.
It's an old Stanley he said was owned by his father. It's got a square wooden handle, and what looks like a knife blade on it with a 45degree angle on the end. But it's not sharpened, just a flat piece of metal. Their is a thumb release in the handle that lets this blade move out so you can put the pointed end back into the handle or pull it out away from the handle and maybe lock it into a different angle with the thumb selector.
