I don't think its quite as old as 49, as the 49 catalog shows one almost identical in structure, but the one you have lacks the cover embossing ribs.

It's not as new as 54 either as the covers over the drawers were dropped, so I'd guess 51-3...

That's a nice box, wouldn't mind having it in my collection. I passed up one a couple months ago at an estate sale, the lady wanted $175.00. Are you going to buy it or sell it for him?

Mickey, look at the logo and location of the logos. 1942 catalog clearly shows the simple oval (probably the blue one) on the top frame, and yours (and IIR the one Warmpancakes had pics of) are on the cover and used the 1950's oval with dashed "wings, which the earliest confirmation we have of that being used was I believe 48 and then rarely. It didn't take off until 50.

Certainly the box design is the same. Good eye there!

Do you want the one that was specifically designed to sit on top of that box?

Someone posted a thread for one of that era's top boxes where it was in practically pristine condition other than some grease, which he cleaned up. It was in the past month or so, but sorry, I have no links...

Those are VERY rare to find in any condition however.

Cool would love a taller top box but I'll paint em both up nice and if one comes along I'll let the other go down the road

The drawer with the sockets in it.. does the drawer come partitioned from the factory like that or did you make them yourself?

Yes, post 13.. I apologize..
Man, thats awesome. But since the drawers are designed in a very specific manner it makes me wonder if there was a schematic that was available at the time that showed which tools were supposed to go where. Does anything like that exist? Or did they leave it up to the imagination of the customer?
