SO did sell models like that in the 70's with one chrome handle in the middle of the drawer but marketed them towards the machinist/industrial setting. What looks weird to a most people is not seeing any deep drawers but you could customize the drawer arrangement. Repainted w/o a doubt. IIRC the rectangular badge was introed in '71, b4 that it was a chrome script.

The drawer pulls are not right for a SO. When they did use pulls like that, they were more rounded. I think SO phazed out that style in the mid 60's. That very well may be a nice box and worth picking up, but that is not an SO.

Unfortunately collecting snap-on doesn't have every catalog for every year but look at the roll cab box on this catalog page, different drawer count but same type of pulls:
http://www.collectingsnapon.com/catalogs.php?loggedin=0&catalogPage=2273

That page is from a Canadian catalog so it could be that's where the one the OP is looking at was made. A long time friend worked as a machinist in Denver at a shop, owned by a Canadian company, that mfg. snowmobiles in the '70's and a grumpy old machinist had one that looked like the CL one. Most of the machinists had Kennedy boxes and I never talked to the box owner but would see it when I stopped to see my friend. I also saw one on CL here but never looked at it.

Obviously most replies are of the opinion that it is not a SO box, and I had that same feeling myself. However, in the catalog picture kindly provided by mvptrukin, that box from 1970, although it has different drawer configuration, has the same drawer pulls (not rounded), has the same rectangular badge, and the badge is located in the same place (left side of top drawer). So for those who have stated that SO never made a box that looks like the one on CL, does that picture change your opinion, or do you still stand by your opinion that it is not a SO box? The catalog pic changed my opinion, but I'm just curious about everyone elses updated opinion. Thanks

Is it true that ALL snap on boxes have an identifying stamp on the back, ALL SO boxes, without exception? If anyone knows the "factual" answer to this question, not an "opinionated" answer, I would greatly appreciate a response. The answer may make the difference whether or not I purchase the box. Thanks (if someone could provide a link to an official statement from a SO source, that would be great)

Also, to those who staand by their opinion that it is not a SO, do you have any idea what else it may be? Does it look familiar to any other vintage boxes you've seen like Matco, Mac, or even Craftsman?

I believe the answer to your question is yes, snap on would have a stamp on that age (era) of box.

I never said I hate snap on tools, my displeasure is directed toward the snap on warranty policy. No, I will never buy another NEW snap on tool because, in my opinion, eventually they will have no resale value once the word gets out that used (transferred ownership) SO tools have NO warranty whatsoever. None!

People will continue to buy them regardless of the warranty because they're still some of the highest quality tools available.

I agree they're one of the highest quality tools available, and people will continue to buy them "used" (as will I), but I would only buy them at "bargain prices" because of the lack of warranty. Anyway, I really have no desire to get into this debate again, I was just clarifying that I don't "hate" snap on tools, I hate snap on policies. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, that's mine.

My KRA59A doesn't have a stamp on it anywhere.

Until you show me were SO is stamped in the box, I stand by that is not SO. The box in the catalog is close, but is not the same box by 5 drawers. Box of that vintage would be stamped on the back, my '62 is. As to who made it, I think I would lean towards waterloo.
