Tomorrow morning I will be picking up a DeWalt Power Shop 1400 RAS (model 203607). Not the saw I was looking for but the deal is either too good to pass up or too good to be true. Only time will tell. Appears to have been a home use machine. I know everyone has their favorites but I am curious what anyone has to say about the 1400.

Somewhere on the internet I read a review that said, 'from what I have read this is the saw to have', but I have not discovered any such pool of resounding positives. On the other hand, haven't seen any negatives either.

Thoughts anyone? I will share pictures on Friday or Saturday.

Depends on how much use you are going to get out of it and what type of work you do.

I would have went for a older round arm type Dewalt in a 10"+ size, but if all you want it for is cross cutting plywood than this should get you by!

Just as long as you didn't get a Craftsman you should be fine, lol...

Are you referring to the mid 50's DeWalt GWI? That is what I was actually looking for. Saw a much newer DeWalt 790 the other day that tempted me too. I am certainly looking to do more than cut plywood. There will be hardwoods on the menu, dadoing and the like.

If you got a good deal, use this one till your dream saw shows up!

Yeah, but there's not much point in investing time in the saw if it had a bad rep. Not worried though, just thought I would ask. Anyone actually used one, have one?

The dewalt ras are great. A really good resource for it is a book that was written by Mr. Sawdust. Mastering the Radial Arm Saw. Great book, got it when I got ahold of a 16" ras with a 28" cross cut. Thing was a beast.

For parts and other info,http://www.wolfemachinery.com/

The book show you how to build a solid top, cleaning and aligning the ras and other maintance items. It is a great resource for ras owners. It also goes into the history of the ras by dewalt.

I just bought the same saw, mine is MINT and has all the attachments for T&G, Dados, grinding, guards etc. in all the original boxes. It is an intimidating saw but cuts like a dream and sounds new. Don't think any saws made today can match this one, if you are handy enough probably could run a whole shop from this one machine! I'm looking for half of the heavy metal fence (only thing missing) if you want to sell yours. Thanks

Great find. :D

I have some odd parts but I am not clear what you mean by 'heavy metal fence'. Several months after buying the 1400, I bought a 1200 (at least it started out as a 1200) that had seen better days but had something or other I wanted. Still have many of the pieces. Let me know and I'll take a look.

Feel free to post a picture of yours, we all like pictures. I think I posted pics of mine somewhere on the board. I'll have to take a look.
