When i told the future wife about buying the box she said it was only ok if it was big red and shiny. If it didn't meet that criteria, i couldn't buy it.

She knows what's what in a toolbox, and she knows some about cars too.

I'm gonna marry that girl one day..

damn! you are lucky... :thumbup::bounce::beer:

I am single so i can do what i want to... buy more tools or drive a lot of my harley... umm it is hard decide for me... :lol_hitti:thumbup:

Socket drawer will be drilled so i can rivet the socket rails in place. I know that makes you cringe, but it'll be measure until i'm 100% confident and drill once. I want it to be perfect, being a perfectionist, so it'll be organised just how i want it.

Do you have a spring loaded center punch? If so, use that to mark the holes.

Use a block of wood on the other side of the drawer to catch the drill bit; that will prevent the sheet metal from being dimpled.

You don't necessarily have to use rivets; you can use short #8 or #10 machine screws pointed up with a jam nut on the socket rail. The thin jam nut will allow for the spring clips to slide right passed without interference.

Which drawer is going to be the socket drawer? I'm curious.

Another suggestion instead of drilling holes in the drawers. In my old craftsman box, I kept my sockets in the top of the box. I used a piece of 1/2 plywood, some screws, and a bunch of 99cent harbor freight socket clip rails. I just attached the rails to the plywood and set it right in top. It served me well in that box and now serves me well in my new snap-on box. The only down fall is it was too tall for 1/2 drive deepwell sockets to go on.

The socket drawer will be the second from the bottom on the top box, one of the deeper drawers. I know from a friend's box this is deep enough for deep sockets.

I'm going to cut a piece of sheet ABS or white styrene to size to measure up and choose the layout of the rail before doing anything to the drawer itself. I'm no enitrely decided on whether to drill the drawer or place a sheet inside that'll hold the sockets. I'm going to use the trial sheet to help me decide.

The top section will be home to breaker bars, crowbars, 36" rathet etc.. the big stuff.

Top drawer will be screwdrivers.
Second drawer will be wrenches.
Third drawer will be sockets
Bottom is undecided as of yet.

Top drawer of bottom box will be pliers.
Rest is undecided.

I'll look tomorrow and sort out where to put everything. Just finished putting the Golf back together at 2am..

What I've thought about doing is using a piece of 1/4 inch thick aluminum plate with the holes countersunk on the bottom side for keeping the bottom of the plate flush. Then have the screws pointed upward and using jam nuts against the socket rails.

Well, only a few days late.. some quick pics.

Top section, home to breaker bars, prybars, crowbars etc.. My phone and keys tend to live there too.
PICT3043.jpg

For those of you that like Snap-on hard handle screwdrivers, some of my collection. The rest will will mailed to me shortly.
PICT3044.jpg

Wrenches, Stanley knives, flashlights and such live in the two drawers below. Wrench racks will be ordered soon-ish.
PICT3045.jpg

Ratchets, 3/8" breaker bars and other drive tools live in the left drawer, they may be moved at some time. In the upper deep drawer live the chrome sockets and socket bits. i'm going to rivet the socket rails to a sheet of something soon, make it nice and neat, easy to use.
PICT3046.jpg

Under that is the less organised drawer. Clutch aligner, brake pad spreader, impact hex bits, allen keys etc all live in the left drawer. The right drawer is currently home to the not-so-organised impact sockets. I don't use them a lot at work, so this drawer isn't used so much. Other things that live in here are my two ball joint separators and a lot of zip-ties that'll soon be moved when i arrange a drawer for spare nuts/bolts/parts.

First drawer of the bottom box. I don't use pliers so often, nor do i use many different types, although i plan to buy 13 pairs of Knipex in the coming weeks. Make the drawer a little more full!
PICT3048.jpg

Next is more specialist stuff. Big wrenches (up to 41mm), stud extractors, specialist boxocets and tie rod adjusters, among some special wrenches.
PICT3049.jpg

After that is mostly Air and torque tools. My two IR 2135s, two air ratchets, 12v DeWalt drill, my Teng torque wrench which i'm giving to my friend, my Norbar torque wrenches that i'll never give up and other odds 'n' ends.
PICT3050.jpg

Nothing much here, some home-made pressure testers for VW-Audi heater matrixes, also good to blowing out the coolant when replacing them so you don't spill coolant inside the car.
PICT3051.jpg

Deep bottom drawer is home to my saws and oil filter wrench sets.
PICT3052.jpg

I've omitted the empty drawers, since there's nothing to see there. This is going to fill up more in the coming months.

I love this box..

Really nice looking! Though I believe to avoid confusion that the Snap-on logo is supposed to be transferred from the left side of the box to the right once in the UK. And of course the eagle pic could be substituted with one of...? Princess Di? Some adorable Corgi's? A black void a.k.a. the Lucas logo? Perhaps you should have a contest for suggestions?

I am in love with those screwdriver drawers. Any chance you could either blow up the pics or provide a semi-detailed description of what we're seeing there?

Awesome box and setup! As I dream of all the different toolboxes I might want to get someday, your combination with the two bank top box and single bottom is right at the top! It allows you to separate all the smaller collections/items on top and then have more space below for bigger stuff.

Haha, this box will be going to the US in a couple years, i don't plan on doing a right-hand-drive conversion only to change it back!

The Eagle's being replaced with a Moose logo anyway. Although, i am a bit pissed because some ***** at work has pulled it off the adhesive at the bottom. I made a point of glaring at him while locking it today. Right in front of him.

I'll get a better pic of the screwdrivers tomorrow, and list what they are. I have more waiting to be sent, and will try and have them over here in the next couple weeks.

This setup works well for me. I don't like/need really wide drawers at the top, i prefer extra drawers that are smaller to store other things. I will divide up the drawers at some point to keep them more organised and keep everything in place. I also prefer the way this looks, breaks up the lines a little. I could store most everything the same with split bottom drawers, but i think this setup is better looking, and work best for me.

KRA4810D - Top
KRA4107D - Bottom

According to my catalogue. I'll have a look at the stickers tomorrow. I don't know what the different A/B/D suffix means.

The A/B/C/D are revisions. I'm gonna email Snap~On and get the part numbers to those PVC liners. Those foam liners you have now are terrible; my MAC box came with them and I hated them.

Ahh, that makes sense. The bottom box has friction slides, so i guess that means it's an older model? do i have to wiat until they die completely to warranty them? some are a little stiff as it is with weight in the drawers. I'm going to grease them and see what it doesn, but i want them replaced with ball-bearing slides.

The foam liners ****. They don't grip anything. when i shut the drawers stuff slider forward on them. I'll get PVC or grip-mat liners instead.

The top box is ball-bearing slides and Lock 'n' Roll. The bottom box has friction slides and the drawers aren't Lock 'n' Roll. Can i convert it to Lock 'n' Roll? That would be pretty good. I like the system.

If you take a drawer out of your top box, you'll see square slots punched into the inside wall. Your bottom box would have to have those slots like that to accept ball bearing slides.

Yeah, it has the slots.

If i can get hold of my Snap-on guy i'll try talk him into warrantying my slides. I don't fancy paying for them..

Yeah ... the slots are for the slide hooks to go into. There's hooks on both sides of the slide; one side of the slide hooks into the inner wall and the other side of the slide hooks into the drawer slots.

Thank you, thank you.

Will have to look into getting myself some of those. Sick of putting my things back in place after they slide forward in the drawers.

I looked today, both boxes have the A suffix in their part numbers. I'd like to replace the slides in the bottom box and also add Lock 'n' Roll to it, which seems as easy as sliding in the plastic racking for it.

...now Moose, I see ya posting elsewhere, so I know you're not just sitting around inhaling fumes from that WD-40 hoard (which of course needs Snap-on drawers to house it properly), which was my first thought when you didn't take us on a guided tour of your screwdriver drawers yesterday.

Who is this ↑↑↑↑↑ girl? In the U.S., this would be a fiance (though I don't know how to put the accent over the "e"). It's gonna freak me out a little if "future wife" is just what you call your right hand or something...

So, how are those little VW Polos (little purple thing on the right in your pic)? That is one model they are not as of yet importing to the USA; at the UK VW site, they have a GTI model too! I think they should sell them here; with the price of gas, it would be a good little car for commuting.

That one in the pic is Lupo. Smaller than a Polo, now replaced by a Fox. Polos are fun little cars. Expecially the GTIs (1.6-litre 16v) although they have electronic throttles, and when you blip them to raise revs when you pull away, you feel the pedal move away slightly, which i don't like. New Polos are nice, older ones are like MK III Golfs and kinda **** inside.

Looks like a parking garage. Where are the hoists? Tool boxes? That doesn't look like any auto shop I have ever been in.
