Sides of the foundation.

Do you get snow?

Rule of thumb I've used is presume you park a car in front of each door. If you get out on the car on the lawn side of the driveway, what do you put your feet on? Concrete or grass? If grass and you let any amount of snow, you're getting in and out in the snow. No snow? Then you're getting in and out on the wet grass.

If you're fine dealing with the wet grass or snow ... then narrow. If not, widen it out until you're happy with what you stand on when you get out of the car. Don't forget you'll want to probably swing the door further than where you stand.

I'd say park a car in the center of a door, and give at least two feet to get out on concrete. I'm planning my driveway one foot past the edge of a 9' door, so ~2 1/2 feet of space to get out of the car.

Red it was.... Not a lot of time to debate, I needed a fast decision. The input really helped. It was a part of the job that I had not thought about.

Nice creation! The garage doors and driveway looks really cool! I have installed allcitygarage Echo ridge XL doors for my garage and was looking for ideas to make a driveway that suits the garage decor. Thanks for sharing the image. I would consider this.
