Snap on F730 repair help

I got a repair kit for my ratchet through snap on and bought the repair tool aswell but im having trouble on installing the round piece of metal with red letters says snap on on it.

any tips?

I have a question as well. I found this thread so I didn't see the need to start a new one.

How do you tell when you need to repair a ratchet? I have a Snap-On 730A that works OK but there is no obvious click of the gears. I found the repair kit (RKRAF730) and for $10 I'll just change it out, but do I really need it if the ratchet still works?

If you don't know the history of the use of the ratchet its hard to tell. Those were great ratchets sold in the '70's to '80's, I still have one and as the original owner I did semi-annual inspection and relubing. Yours might benefit with just a cleaning and relube--the consenus on the forum is to use Super Lube--I used to use white lithium grease until the discovery of SL. These ratchets weren't totally sealed from the environs like the more modern ratchets and if the previous owner didn't keep it out of dirt or solvent it could be gunked up. BTW mine has a date code of '79 and has never had a rebuild kit put in it.

picked up a snap on ratchet this weekend and it was really rough and stiff to turn. no obvious click noise but it did engage. i tore it down and cleaned all the junk out and greased it up. runs super smooth now and in the box. used it today too
