I don't jave a ton of metal stock, but what I do have eats up my floor space. I mostly use 1-1/2" angle and 3/4-1" square tubing, but I do have a few other odd sizes as well. Mostly my pieces are 4' or less, but I always save the smaller drops.

I want to find a good wall storage solution. Show me what you guys have!

I used Unistrut, they hold a ton (well as much as your studs can hold) and the arms are fully adjustable.

I'm hoping to build a small 18"-24" bumpout blister to the outside of my garage wall under the eaves. About 10' long I can fit, and 6 feet tall. This should let me have doors in the front with racks to hold lengths of steel shapes, and then an open gap behind it with end door access to hold 4x8 sheets. Ideally, everything will be accessible and NOT taking up garage wall space inside.

Now what I plan to do and what will actually happen are frequently two different things entirely!

Fairly simple racks made from 2" angle iron and some 3/8"x1" flat stock. Bolted to the wall. The bins, (approx 1'x1' squares), hold all my 1' and under drops. Works great for gussets, brackets, etc. The buckets hold the 1' and up pieces that won't lay in the racks. I like to have a small stock on hand as my closest metal supply shop is 40 miles round trip and they aren't open on weekends.

Those look super painted red. Way better than green unistrut or just raw metal.

I just noticed also your air setup. Any other pics of it? And is your compressor inside on the other side of the wall or outside in it's own room.

The Unistrut I purchased was galvanized and I painted it.

The air system is RapidAir Airnet product.

I built a cart for my horizontal compressor and added the front mounted hose reel on cart and hose reel. This compressor connects to triple air outlet at the wall.

is there a place that typically sells Unistrut? I'm in Ontario Canada and have done the usual home depot, lowes store check but come up dry. It looks like fantastic stuff but I'd like to see it in real life. Also, are the horizontal components part of the unistrut "system"? Do we Canucks just miss out?

Home Depot sells their version herein the states, not sure what gauge steel they have. You'll find it in the electrical aisle.

Yes, those are Unistrut horizontal brackets but you can make your own if you have a chop saw, drill press and welder. I bought mine since I needed more than I cared to fabricate in the middle of a garage remodel.

Commercial electrical distributors should also carry the Unistrut or equal products. Bought mine at a bolt supply store.

In our area it's available at Lowe's in the electrical department. I haven't seen it at Home Depot.

A**hole......I wasn't looking at the blue line, I was looking by the garage door at the copper line? Looking at it again, is that not an air line? I see now what looks like a water filter. If it is for water, why do you have the long extension going to the left, then looping back?

The blue line is my air.

Sorry, the copper is the loop for the water softener. Garage was gutted for repaint, flooring, etc. Softener still in temp storage when this pic was taken. Not installed yet.

Had to get the shelving up first, priorities man!
