Nice score on the Proto wrenches. I bought a set of challenger by proto (Canadian made) 32 years ago. They have always been my favorites.

In diesel you will probbaly need ssome big stuff, like a 3/4 drive. socket set. Maybe a big 3/4 drive impact and sockets too.

Snap-on is the standard brand for pro wrenching, but is $$$. Sears Craftsman is a brand that people either love or hate, but it will get the job done and has a lifetime warranty. t about 1/5 the price.

Kobalt brand probably won't get you much respect n a shop.

since you are down at ft. hood, there will be allot of 3/4 stuff laying around. Most are proto and armstrong. Those are the brands the army buys. And 3/4 is very common size tools with heavy units like 1st Cav with all their tanks and cfv.

A red leg I see. Yeah, the mech units all have allot of big tools. And the pawn shops around them have a good assortment of used USA made big tools. Happy hunting at the pawn shops.

Sounds like some good deals on the alleged (no pics) tools, my only concern would be the COO on the Kobalt wrenches, $20 is good if they are the USA made ones, if not $20 is expensive for sling shot ammo that you'll have to cut down.

Even the US kolbalt it is a tad high, they were the same quality as the craftsman rp as Apex made them for lowes. Good wrenches, but not proto, wright, snap on or armstrong level.

The one measly pawn shop around here wants $3+ for a single socket, regardless! Not exactly a fun place to shop.

Great scores on the wrench sets! Challengers are nice wrenches.

Go back a year later. If they're still in business, they'll probably be more willing to move some stale inventory by then.

Years ago I had a set of Thortsen-Allied combination wrenches I had never heard of them but had learned to trust my tool dealers advice he told me they were every bit as good as Snap On and I think he was right I used them daily for 5 years and never had 1 problem with them,Would most likely still have them if I hadn't lost my roll away to thieves!
