Proper way to run conduit for zone lighting.

I'm a complete amatuer at wiring practices, so bare with me. I'm wanting to run 5 rows of 3, 8 foot 4 lamp strips. I wanted each row to have it's own switch. What would the best lay out for conduit be? Would I need 5 seperate runs of conduit to the first light in the row, or could I run all the wires in a larger peice of conduit to the center then branch off. I don't want the wiring or conduit lay out to look like a spider web.

I'm not going to be doing the actual wiring, but I would like to run the conduit and wires myself and have the tie in done by someone that knows what their doing. So i'd also just like to be able to know different options for running this stuff. Thanks

I understand you want to do part of this, to save money or to have the satisfaction, but running the conduit and pulling the wire is the hardest and most code technical part. It also takes a good amount of experience in the trade. Tying in the wires is the easy part, you just have to also know what you're doing there as well.


Personally I'd run one conduit up and along the ends of the five runs of lights, with a 1900 box near each light, and a perpendicular stub from that box to the light.
As long as they are all on the same circuit, you can run one neutral and five switch legs. A switch leg to each row and splice the neutrals in each box.

This ALL, of course, depends on the layout of the building and lights. My plan my be complete junk if it didn't fit the layout.

strap it within 3' from the box or light, and don't exceed 10' without strapping it. Probably easier to use a 'mini' strap rather than a 1 hole strap so you don't have to bend any box offsets to get into the knock out in the flourescent light.

black dots theoretically will be outlets
dark black lines are garage doors.

the first red box is where the breaker box is. and all the rest is where i'm assuming you mean T off to the individual light banks. I'm also considering not running them in a straight line, but rather zig zaging them

That looks perfect...I do this all the time in warehouse lightning...if your putting in a camera make sure to make one a nightlight..powered on all the time...
