sorry, not the greatest pic, and it's the only one I got before camera went on the fritz. I will get more pics ASAP.

T-handle is broken, but the missing piece is there (see duct tape-lower part of handle near base). no key for the lock.
Other than that seems to be complete, and it does work,just fine...

Yes, I do have plans for a re-paint, have to solve the broken handle issue. Anyone know if the handle is pot metal or aluminum? Can a locksmith make a key for it?

I am not an old tool guy but that's an awesome looking jack!! I love the "wheel covers". Not sure I would change a thing, find a key, find your missing parts, and use it!!

Why does a jack have a lock?

Blackhawk advertised it as a anti-theft feature. Maybe there was a lot of "jack jacking" goin on back in the 50's?

oh yeah, I got the compliment, no prob. It made me chuckle as I am a big fan of the movie "Slapshot"

Seriously, last friday my craftsman 3 ton jack I bought new like 25 yrs ago was giving me issues. I thought it was not happy about lifting my F350 crew cab. So I took a look on the local CL for a larger jack and I ran across the ad in question. So I fired up the google machine on the interweb for some pics of a blackhawk floor jack. I'm into vintage cars, you can see my '53 Merc in a few of the pics. And I was immediately interested, actually I was hoping it was an S4 floor jack. Since there was no pic in the ad I figured it was only 20 mins. from me, sure I'll take a look at it. Of course the seller didn't respond for 3 days and I figured it was sold. He called me sunday evening and explained his father had bought the jack sometime in the early 50's from a service station that had closed its doors. He had the jack in a storage locker and we made arrangements to meet the following day.

BTW, turns out my craftsman jack just had some trapped air in her belly, she works fine now. Maybe it was fate...

Welcome to GJ. There are several good threads on here about jack restoration. There is at least one member who is like an encyclopedia on the subject and seems to do it full time. Post a thread on your resto and I'm sure the experts will jump in with good help.

I love the lines of that jack! Get it running and looking good and it will bring a smile every time you set your hands on it.
