I just had to share my score from this afternoon.

I answered an ad on Craigslist for this blast cabinet. It's a Snap-On YA433. He was asking $40, but I offered him $50 to hold it for a day. He accepted my offer and we made the deal today.

The seller said that he never tried to use it so he didn't know if anything worked. I didn't realize it but this model comes with a 100 cfm dust collector mounted on the side. It works! The glass looks new and it even came with a Snap-On Gun Repair Kit with several nozzles. There was even 20 lbs of #40 glass beads included. This thing is HEAVY and made in the U.S. !

I was very close to buying a Harbor Freight bench top glass bead unit until I found this one. The current list price is apparently $1,014! Think I got a good deal or have you seen this before?

I have the very same cabinet, and haven't used it much, since I never got the collection bag that hangs on the side. It appears that yours is missing this bag also. If you don't have the bag, it gets like a blizzard inside the cabinet, to the point that you can't see what is being blasted. The gloves on mine rotted off at the cups, and I bought a replacement pair from SKAT blast in Ohio. Just never got around to installing them. Make sure that you have a good ground wire on the unit. Mine build up a lot of static electricity.

I should have added that the dust collection blower works and I did receive the bag with the unit. A replacement from Snap-On is $112. Even the tough duty light bulb inside the unit works.

Junkman, I wonder if a bag from a small dust-collection unit could be adapted to fit your cabinet?

When I got mine, the dust bag was about $75 and I didn't think it was worth it then. Now, I know that I can live without it. I would rather buy a dust collection unit and attach it to the outlet. As for adapting something else, I probably could do that. Could you please post a picture of the collection bag, and give me your opinion of how well it works. I might be wrong as to the value of the bag, and your actual experience will help me to decide. Thanks Junk....
PS...... My bulb also works...

Party at SWA Guy's house! He's buying the beer!

I will absolutely buy the beer!

Junkman, I visited a friend today who just happened to be changing the gloves (HF $6.99) on his old bench top blast cabinet. I was surprised that his was identical to ours in every way. Apparently Dee-Blast makes these cabinets for Snap-On. While the Snap-On unit retails for $1,014 per their web site, the Dee-Blast Model 19 lists for $579. I am going to call them tomorrow and ask about the cost for the bag and gloves. My friend has tried several small bench top blast cabinets in the past and he says that this one is the absolute best and as long as you can live within the size limits it should do whatever you ask of it. He said that he couldn't live without the dust collection system. He uses his cabinet all the time.

I bought a pair of gloves from SKAT in Ohio, when I was at the Carlisle Spring swap meet. I wonder if they are any better quality than the Harbor Freight. I paid about $25 for the gloves. Guess that it pays to shop around first... Please let me know about the dust collection bag. Thanks Junk...

$50! Congratulations.

I swear, some people on this board would pay $50 for a snap-on decal, let alone a blast cabinet.

I hope, someday, I will stumble across one of these deals. I never see deals this good.

Nice score.

Cheers!

Update:

The blast cabinet works great. The dust collection seems to be doing it's job, the inside stays clear and easy to see. I'm welding up a shelf that I will mount to the side of a rolling cabinet. This cabinet has all of my bench tools on it and allows me to move around the shop as I see fit.

Junkman - During operation the bag doesn't really inflate. I would think that you could use a replacement bag from a grizzley or harbor freight dust collection unit. Shouldn't be too expensive. In this case I really don't think that size matters...

Botoom line is that I LOVE Craigslist!

Hopefully that poor SOB who "gave" you that thing doesn't read this board - or he's gonna feel like the biggest POS on the planet - and hunt you down for more $$!

And you feel SO guilty - you'd give him more $$$...right??
