1.2 MILLION dollars. BWAHAHA!

I was pretty much the biggest "Farrah" fan in the world back in the day but even I wouldn't want that thing.

There is a 40th anniversary coupe for sale on CL in my town right now for
10,000.00. Only 80k miles on it , according to the ad. Looks like a nice car. http://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/2258765119.html
I love the color on those cars.

I don't own a Vette so I hope I don't get banned for posting. :D

I always wanted a '78 Pace car edition. It's the year I was born and though I don't have the money for one now, I will have one someday.

I have had 21 corvettes over the years. First was a 1969 vert w/427.Last was 04 ZO6. Never bought new and always got back at least what I payed.Have not had a c6 yet .Always have wanted a gts viper .Maybe have one ......one day. I moved to an airport and spend my time and money on airplanes now.

I have put over 250,000 miles on Vettes from a 1974 model up to a 2006, owning a total of 14 in all. They were my daily drivers from 1987 to 2003.

Here is my take on the different generations the C3's are cruisers, the C4's handle, brake and accelerate nicely. C5's are a step up from the C4's in performance, but loose some of the raw feeling, and the C6's are even better performers but are also more refined than the C5's. I don't know how fast I would have had to go in my C6 to really feel fast, 100 mph felt like you were cruising at 50 or 60.

C4's are a great value today, and very low mileage cars can be had relatively cheap.

One thing I can say is that I will wil not buy another Corvette to keep that isn't a convertible. I found myself not taking the targa tops off of my coupes near as much as I do in my convertible. Definitely get a convertible, there is nothing like a Corvette convertible of any year :)

Have a good time hunting, and drive all different years.

You couldn't give me a vette.First thing I think of when I see some middle aged guy riding around in a vette with the top down and his bald head blowing in the wind is old Smilin Bob from the Enzite commercials.Either they have a small ***** or their going thru a midlife crisis trying to impress some young chick that will be screwing around on him in six months cuz he can't keep up with her.Sorry guys but it's just my opinion of vettes.Don't get me started on Porches or Vipers.:lol_hitti

I can't even imagine what you drive! Probably a clapped out Honda Civic, or a Prius!:lol_hitti

It's OK, most of us are not judgemental!:willy_nil

E-tek just curious did you ever buy one?

Alas - no, not yet anyways. For some reason, maybe because I already have a few other cars I got real picky about parting with the 20-30 grand (although it's still just sitting in my car account). I'm leaning towards a Boxster now...

I read the title and am wondering why limit to just Vette owners? As a Vette thief I would be happy to sell you one.

The title certainly didn't help - as one can tell from all the haters, wishers and whiners who also posted!! :bounce:

Find a nice C6 with 50k or so on it and have fun! They typically fall off in price after that which means you should be able to end up in one pretty cheaply.

Dont be afraid to get one with higher mileage as they are just like any other car and easily hit 150-200k mi with nothing other than proper maintenance.

I DD my 06 3LT M6 Coupe on nice days. Its a fun car and gets great mileage on the highway...

79 corvette 4 speed 3.36 axle, i just came across this in some of my old photos.........I guess I just got to much time on my hands........lol

P1010049.jpg

Nice try, but I was pretty sure no stock 1979 could hit 165/170. I had to check with folks who know more than I do about those years of Corvettes. My stock 1970 LT1, which has a lot more horsepower than a stock 1979 will max out at about 140 m/hr.

That is not a OEM instrument cluster. I m not sure what the differences are, but I am told it was commonly available for around $200 back when from all the major Corvette supplier. Further the speedo reads in K/hr with m/hr in the smaller numbers -- about 105 in this case. If stock that is about maxed out.

I have a picture of a 1995 Impala SS instrument cluster at 171 during the Silver State Classic. You can see the gloved hand of the driver and a part of the roll bar, and I can assure you there is little stock about that car.

Follow the advice of 85mcss and look for a nice C6. Those cars will take a hit in value when the C7 comes out after the New Year. The C6 is far superior to anything from years back. Nostalgia is nice, but brutal to live with. I have 41K on my 2008 Z06, and it is a keeper -- at least until I see what the New Year brings.

That's a Canadian cluster...LOL

sure is, thats a oem cluster for a corvette deliverd to Canada.
the car was delivered to three rivers chevrolet in montreal in early june of1979.

For the record I never said it was mph, I wouldn't want to go 160 in that car it would probably flip over.........lol
