I need a 13mm torque adapter to torque the cylinder base nuts on my ktm dirt bike. I can get one from the cornwell guy for $17 or a 10-19 set for $130. I'm trying to decide which way to go. Mind you I'm just a hobbiest, I do all the work on my vehicles. Can't recall a time other then dirt bike cylinder base gaskets that I said that would really be handy. We used to just use a wrench guessing at the torque but I like buying tools, this is a good excuse.

So what do you guys think, money well spent for the set or not?

many years ago when i had my kx two stroke dirt bike i would use a 13mm open end crows foot wrench onto my 3/8dr torqe wrench for the base of the cylinder, it seemed to work just fine for me

Eevery time you extend the length of a torque wrench you increase the torque. A crows foot will work and will get you buy. A couple of pounds one way or the other on a dirt bike wil not make much difference.

Every foot of extention will double the pulling force you put on a nut or bolt.

I would just get the one you need and save the money. If you ever change bikes you might need the same tool or a different one. I doubt you will use them in many places. I have SAE and Metric sets and have yet to use them in 30 years. I got mine when I but a mini storage unit with a full Snap-on tool box full of tools. I kept the whole lot.

I like having sets but in this case it makes no sense. Put your money in savings and watch it grow. LOL

RC, there are equations that will get you spot on with the torque setting. pretty common in many fields, not so much with automotive.

id just get the one you need, they are so rarely used, i would bet the money would be better off on something used more often

I tried the crows foot, it would work on the rear two nuts but the front ones are in the powervalve cover. Just to tight.
Sounds good, I just called and told him to get me the 13mm. I need a new work light pretty bad, I'll put the money to a maxxeon workstar 2000 instead. It'll get used every day I work out there.
Thanks a lot guys

Yeah, get 'em as you need 'em. A full set will be kind of a waste.
I only ever bought one. An Armstrong 15mm to torque the bottom oil drain plug on the Carrera.
Use the simple formula to set the adjusted torque setting.

Buy a set of crowsfoot flare. They are very handy! They take the place of the a torque adapter, wrenches, and line tools. The jack of trades..
