Saw this on eBay and had to have it. I'm sure I paid to much but oh well I think its cool
Way cool. You be the sheriff of Tool Town.

*snip*

...and an Engineer brand pliers. The pliers is extremely well made, and has a unique jaw design that allows for grabbing a screw head-on. This is really nice when the screw head is stripped out and a screw driver will no longer grab. I bought it sort of on a whim, but I've found it to be be uber-useful.

*snip*

Also useful for grommets, plugs and a bunch of other pullable objects. Very handy indeed.

Nice score on the Snap-On KRA429F intermediate chest, I just picked one up for under my lathe but not in as clean a shape as yours. I may look into disabling the spring loaded top drawer though, I don't like how it sticks out that little bit when unlocked. I want another one for beside it now.

A few things I bought recently. Some bargains, some full price.
$150 for the drill press

I like that drill press with the right angle mount for the motor. It won't stick out so far from the wall. Nifty design!

I don't like the top drawer springs either, but for 100.00 bucks I'm not going to *****. I got it cheap because the bottom drawer would open when the boxed was locked. 5 minuet fix and all works good now.

the otc vac gauge was only $25ish. i like the clarity of the numbers and size compared to the SO one i use at work/school.

the pinless i have never used (super nub) and i have been contemplating buying, hope they are worth it.

The pinless sockets are worth every penny i have a mixture of the cman and armstrong ones.

These all Came Yesterday.. I ordered 4 items from Advance Auto, All the Same day and they all came from the same place in 4 seperate boxes.. Gotta Love Free shipping.

Mayhew 150 Line Punches. Supposedly the OEM for Snap on.. Its what i read on the interwebs anyways.

Some More Mayhew Goodies..

Snap on has some "Guarded Punches" that look similar to these also but they have a different Head design according to the pictures.

Lastly some Gearwrench 1/4" SAE/Metric Pass thru socket sets. Im not a big fan of GW, but i needed some Filler to Maximize my Discount and these rang up at $9.99 a Piece.

Good stuff. How did you get free shipping and what did all that run you? I could use that stuff.

Im sure Advance always has +$75 and Free shipping, But i use the VISA code to receive $50 off a $150 dollars which includes free shipping, There was a bigger discount someone posted in the Hot deals but it was a limited time deal and 33% off was the best i could find (Visa). Everything Total was just a hair over $100 bucks including tax..

nothing that exciting, but Sears gave me $10 worth of free SYWR points that were about to expire. i couldn't really think of something I needed and then i recalled that my 299pc Craftsman socket set had some gaps. so i looked around and found this 12pt 3/8" drive deep 20mm socket that craftsman doesn't have:

8048396954_0ee492456b_b.jpg

basically got it for free...

although, i have to say, i'm not impressed at all by Armstrong sockets, at least not this one. the chrome quality isn't that great, about the same as the craftsman and the casting was left rough on the insides instead of being machined down or otherwise processed.

Yeah, it IS spelled that way. But, I also say "A Buck Fifty" when I mean $150.
Doubt he meant $1.50

That does make a lot more sense. I've never heard that cliché used around these parts where "a buck fifty" means only $1.50. I hope you're right because I was feeling sorry for the seller.

Are those jack stands sturdy??? If I saw them in a store, I think I would just keep walking. They look a little cheap, Not trying to put you or your new tools down, or start a fight, but when I got a car on stands and I'm under it safety is number one.

They seem very sturdy. They have a 100 sq. in. base, and each stand is rated to 3 tons.

I spent $200 on them, so hearing that they look cheap hurts :) And the reason I bought them was because safety is also my # one priority. I'm not going to comment on the alternatives, but I'm sure you can figure it out.

Man that's a hell of a price tag. Maybe they look better in person then in the pic. Again not trying to be a jerk, just never seen a set like that. I have an older set of USA made ones that are 6 ton rated. I don't know if I would trust the Chinese ones they sell at harbor freight.

Kreeker,

Hey man, Gotta say I'm with zbadass on this one man. Seems like all it would take would be just one poor weld up under the paint and they'd crumple like a tin can.

I was always taught that the more parts/features something has, the chance of failure of any one component increases. Those have at least 5-6 major component's cobbled together.

Just from the pic it looks like it's made up of 4 pieces of angle iron. The handle plate and 4 rods.

The bottom of the angle iron worries me because to get that it looks like you'd have to cut a portion of it out, bend it and then re-weld it. That's one weakness right there.

The rods just "happen" to be welded to the same spot? IMO those rods do nothing for structural integrity. I think they are just put there so people won't notice the cut, bent, and re-welded angle iron.

Back to the feet on the stand,
From my personal experience sometimes after jacking one side of a vehicle up by the Lower control arm, putting the jack stand in place and then jacking the other side up will sometimes cause the first jack stand to momentarily come up in one or more corners While mine work out ok with a flat base at the end of each leg I'd be worried that where they re-welded those legs on your stand might buckle! Sometimes just a 1/4" of slippage can cause a "TON" of trouble.

Not trying to beat you down man, But I'd take those back as fast as I could!

The ones at auto part stores may not be large or the best, but IMO they're worlds better than those.

Ahh, wait. Looked at the pic again. The rods are NOT covering up the weld. My bad.

BUT, Again, if one of those welds come loose between the rod and leg I would think it'd come down in a hurry!

Jarhead, you know better than me, but I've never heard these stands receive one negative review, other than some people saying they are overpriced and would rather buy "alternatives".

US Jack is not some joe blow shop either. They have huge government contracts, so either they know what they are doing OR having some good ******** artists to get them these contracts. The latter I highly doubt. If you take one look at their website you will understand why I don't think they go by advertising rather than good products.

Here is a view from underneath.

So, are these replacement stands from US Jack or are these the original ones?

Also, I don't think people judging them by just looking at the pics means too much. They're rated 3-tons each by a quality US manufacturer. I would use them without hesitation.

Some people here claim you're taking your life in your hands if you use Chinese jack stands, which are what 90% or more places sell. But if you get high-priced US made ones, people look at the pics and judge them "cobbled together" and say they'll "crumple like a tin can."

I guess you just can't win on GJ...

These are the replacement stands.

And yes you are definitely correct. However, I have no knowledge or welds of things of that nature, so comments like his do scare me.

Kreeker, Thanks for the photo.

Looks like they didn't cut and re-weld after all. I checked out the website.
I like the style of feet on the 10-ton personally. I have had their jacks in the HMMWV's and MRAPS we used. I like the fact that they use a dual pawl system.

Where'd you buy them from? I'll swing by and look at them in person.
Heading to bed now man, I'll check your response after work tomorrow.

Don't worry about their claims. There are members here using them without issue.

How do the replacements look compared to the original ones you got?

Not saying that at all. I have 6 jack stands. To the best of my knowledge they are all Chinese made. Most of them from flea markets here and there. No complaints with them so far.

From the 1st picture's they did look cobbled together. Angle iron does not inspire confidence in me. The 2nd pic is much better.

Not trying to scare you man. But like I said above, the 2nd pic is alot better than the 1st. I'd rather put my opinion out there for what it's worth than sit idly by and say "Damn, that ***** he got killed:eyecrazy:! Oh well, no concern of mine"

I'll take a look at them in person some time.

I bought them directly from US Jacks. I don't think they are available from any other source.

The replacements look so much better.

I want to take better pictures for those that are interested, but here is one:

I have 4 of their 3-ton stands and 4 of their 6-ton stands. All very nice and heavy duty. I would prefer their 3-ton stands far over any other jack stands in the same tonnage range, as they are very wide and stable.

I bought them directly from US Jacks. I don't think they are available from any other source.
They are available from at least a couple other companies I had found online. I went ahead and purchased all 8 of mine direct through US Jack.

JeffMoss, Thank you sir.

US Jack Stands, I have a pair but look different then yours, like thicker legs via the pics on it's box, lol

Sorry about yours, to me the legs are same thickness as my "T" Posts. I will look at mine and take pics. Are you sure they are not 3-tons per pair? It's better to help you know then hear bad news later, so consider this and don't get upset, we care around here, it's family!
