Proto Impact Sockets -- No Warranty?

I had to warranty an old Husky socket so I called Stanley (actually Husky and got Stanley) and they didn't have that socket in stock, so they sent me what turned out to be a Proto 30mm impact socket. I wasn't sure what I would be getting, but I was happy it was a Proto and it sure is a nice, well made socket. I was surprised to see that it was stamped "No Warranty" though. I don't have any Proto impacts, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I wasn't expecting this to be stamped right into the socket. I'm presuming there is no warranty on all their impacts, but maybe its just on the ones they've warrantied out, but its hard to believe that they'd change the tooling for making warranty replacements. I jut found it interesting and thought I'd share.

I have a set of relatively new Porto thin wall impact sockets and they are all labeled the same as yours. I always assumed that is was because of the thin wall but I can't say as I have seen a recent thick wall socket.

Does your socket look like it has a thin wall?

Yes, its a thin wall. That must be the answer. Nicely made piece, though.

The thin walls aren't warranted - oddly enough, they won't warranty ones that got "thin walled" on the lathe either!

Please remind me never to buy Proto impact sockets personally i would never buy a product that has no warranty

It is ONLY the thinwalled version that aren't warrantied. Any moderately powered impact can deform and tear them up, and when you get a hot gun like a TiMax, they'll destroy them in no time at all.

Impact sockets really are a consumable item anyway, regardless of the manufacturer. They WILL deform and wear out over time.

agreed that is why I typically buy cheaper brands for impacts and they have held up very well after lots of use, admittedly not as heavy as many on here but pretty well daily use for 18 years using snap on and CP impact guns. I figure I have had my $19-99 per set value back out of them many times.
