Picked up the same impact socket set last week at the outlet store. Have you noticed how shallow those are? Nice looking quality, but doubt they will cover the whole side of a standard acorn lugnut! They were boxed so I was unable to see the depth till I got home. Good thing I picked up the deep socket set too!

Todays Haul

IMAG0277_zpsfdfe8433.jpg

I stopped by sears and picked up the half off prybar set.

Then I stopped by a local junk seller and to my surprise they have stepped their game up since the last time I went in there.

Kennedy Tool tote in great condition, very little rust the black spot is grease of some type dried on there. I don't think it was ever used it has no scratching and even has the orginial hand written price tag from ACE hardware, $7.98.

P&C 8" adjustable

Sweet Eagle oil can (This thing shoots like 20ft! and cleaned up really nice)

Jensen snap rings (can anyone tell me about Jensen?)

Sears gauge feelers

And lastly some Ace hardware 3/8" Impacts SAE

All spent $40, more than I like for a random haul but most was stuff I wanted and I saved a lot of money over retail so I am happy.

I've read some good things about Panasonic power tools, but they aren't distributed much in the US. They have them on Amazon, but they don't see to have too many.

snap-on, I needed one of these ultra thin things to hold a caliper pin while the mounting bolt went into it so of course that means don't buy 1, make a set! Got 6-19mm though they do go all the way to 32 or 36mm. Just waiting on the bag for them.

Lol, I know the caliper pins you speak of. I use a thin adjustable wrench. Paid a total of zero dollars!

if i cared about money i'd of just ground down a wrench. None of my adjustables were remotely thin enough.

A man will pay twice as much for an item if he needs it.
A woman will buy twice as many of something she doesn't need if it's on sale.

Buying 6 pairs of identical tongue-in-grooves just because they're on sale makes absolutely zero sense to me unless you have a ******. Get control of yourself, man.

My torque wrench arrived today. It's the first torque wrench I have owned, because I have always just borrowed friends. It is a CDI 1/2" drive 30-150 ft/lb click type torque wrench.

Where did you order that from? I am considering a 3/8 in/lb CDI but I dont like how the warranty starts from date of manufactuing and not date of purchase.

:edit: ignore what I said. I had bad information.

Ya that kind of *****. I ordered it off eBay from the seller isc2001. They seem to have all the different models. I was also considering a 3/8 in/lb for the smaller stuff. Overall it was a great experience; shipped from Georgia to California in 3 days.

I actually feel good that there's a warranty, even if it doesn't start at the date of purchase. I have heard friends buy torque wrenches and some stores won't warranty them at all.

Saying you can have too many tools absolutely makes zero sense to me unless you have a ******! :Mr.T:

I have at leat 60 pr of chanelock grove plires. I buy them all the time. I never pay more than $3 for a good Pr. For some dumb reason I keep finding them. I have all the sizes and styles, side cutters and all. I must have 10 or or more of the 10 Inch size. Dish soap takes 98% of the greese off the handles. I got a 6" pr last week for a dollar. My collections are out of control. What I have is after the boys and thier sons have taken what they want. It is nuts. There have been so many dollar tools through the years that I don't even bend over to look at them any more at the swap meet. Here in Southern California there really are that many to be had.

I guess I must be the bigest ***** ever. LOL I would never buy them at even half price sale. That is too much.

The funny thing is im gonna be giving away 3 of the 6 pairs I got at TSC to friends

But you can never have too many Channellocks. I put one of my new 420s in my truck box and counted while I was at it. In my truck alone ive got 2 pair of 420s, a 426, a 440, and a GL10. And thats just the tongue and grooves!

Its hilarious how on a tool forum you can get called a ***** for buying too many tools! :lol_hitti

A group photo the last weeks new tools.
Channellocks from Tractor supply clearance. 1/2" sockets bought with SYWR free points for $6 out of pocket. 1/4" extension set and 11" 3/8" extension from ebay new and then 3/8" extension set minus 11" from here. Propane torch nozzle on sale at lowes for $10, and lastly the FHLF from here with a new green handle that I had already. Rogue1987 also threw in the 2 drivers on the right with the FHLF80. In total right at $200 but for what I got I feel is decent.

WP_20121015.jpg

Also not a tool but I also got something else new last week that took 74 hours to arrive

Woah, sorry to hurt everyone's feelings. Jesus.

First, sayin I'm "in his business" on a public discussion forum where people routinely take pictures of things to show each other and talk about it seems a little silly. Maybe I'm wrong.

And everyone got all asshurt about what I said, but I didn't really see anyone offer up a sensible defense to cleaning out a ton of an item you already have just cause it's on sale. Anyone? Here let me beat you to the punch:

1) Gifts? If you know 6 different people who all satisfy all three conditions of first being on your gift list, second being able to appreciate the glory of a good pair of channellock tongues, and third not having a couple sets of their own; hell, good on you. I'm not sure if you know too many people or buy too many gifts.

2) For self / can never own too many tools? Yeah right. Is there anyone here who doesn't already have two pairs of those pliers? I do. I only have two hands, so I can't think of a reason to buy a third set.

3) Resale? If you pick them up for 5 bucks a pair you can probably make ten on each pair on eBay. Great, if you're hurtin' that bad for $60 at the expense of the next five people who walked in the store after you, actually needing a set and who would have appreciated a good deal, then fine. Knock yourself out.

Why's everyone so mad when I'm just saying what I think? I'm sorry, garagejournal. Forgive me? It seemed to me to be a reckless consumption impulse that is going to serve that user no practical purpose that I can think of; and if he lets them sit around in his shop (cause let's face it, he's very most likely not going to use them), that's an even bigger waste of money and a deprivation of the people that came in after him actually needing a set. Why not take that $20 or $25 and spend it on something you actually need rather than wasting on a pile of scrap because it's on sale? I can't figure it out. Someone help me.

I didn't even look at the user name, maybe he's mad popular around here and I'm just the new kid trashing the captain of the football team for knocking someone's books out of their hands, but a simple opinion shouldn't be so terrifying to everyone. My bad.

Edit: Also congrats on the baby dude, sending thoughts of great health and happiness your way.

The clockwise test at 30 ft/lbs came out - 30.67 (2.2%), 30.52 (1.7%), and 30.37 (1.2%)

90 ft/lbs - 89.79 (-0.2%), 90.11 (0.1%), 89.65 (-0.4%)

150 ft/lbs - 147.83 (-1.4%), 147.34 (-1.8%), 147.87 (-1.4%)

They also did a counterclockwise calibration with similar results.

Nope, others on here share the disdain of people grabbing all they can and leaving nothing for the next guy....well said, don't sweat the flak!

My first SK tools. I like 'em! I cursed when I saw that Advance Auto had just plopped each one in a bubble mailer, and it turned out that they were just fine. Advance Auto got these things here in a real hurry.

Flex ratchet has a medium number of teeth. 40-some or fifty.

Here's the thumbwheel with a 19mm 3/8 socket on it. It's hard to tell how small this little thumbwheel is from a picture sometimes. The knurling is almost like "negative knurling". I thought it would be like a barbell -- it's more like the screen on an old electric shaver.

This came today:

8095665781_e55edafeee_b.jpg

What came in today was the OTC Stringer branded wheel dolly rack. Found it on Amazon in "used - good" condition for $22 w/ free shipping! The actual red wheel dollies are from HFT for about $55 each! Total setup was $242 + tax! Wasn't sure if it would fit the HFT wheel dollies, but figure for $22 it was worth a shot.

nice! those thumbwheel ratchets are perfect IMO. I got the 3/8 after using it a few times I had to have the 1/4. I have been using them as screw drivers.
