i realize this post is really old but i was curious if you ever found a swivel base for your green littleton vise ?
That's a beauty Chris!! Did you know that Dynamic jaw assy is in 2 pieces? From around mid/later 1970's Wilton started making that bar separate and they press it into the front jaw housing. If you took the front collar off you will see the steel dowel that is part of the channel bar. Thats what keeps it from not turning. That Dynamic is almost 10 lbs heavier then the old one piece. That is one beautiful vise. I sold one not long ago for $600 bills, no problem. It was almost as nice.

Brax - grats on the big Wilton....best to keep the heavy stuff in mid America and away from California....we don't need beach property in Arizona yet

I now have 4 of these. They came on a bench I bought at an auction last weekend.
If there are 4 on one bench, I'm going to guess that was out of a school's wood shop. Did it have lockers under it for the base? The ones in my 7th grade wood shop did.

OK as with many other afflictions I didn't know I had prior to this site (screwdrivers, ratchets . .) after 180 pages of vises I now have a vise problem. I USED to have a 5" Chinese CMan that was all the vise I would ever need (probably paid $80 for it). Then I discovered that really good vises could be had at garage sales for $5. So now, after a Wilton Arrow (sold) a 4" Shop King (restored), and a 3" Reed I have pieced together a matching pair of late 70's (Japan) swivel based CMans - a 3/5" and a 5". Probably don't have the need to go for the post-1973 4" as that would be ovekill. Unless . . .
(BTW the 5" is partially disassembled by me. . .came with all the parts)
Spent the weekend getting this pair cleaned up. They are not as beefy as other vises, but will work fine in my little shop. I always end up painting vises one color, so I decided to go with two for these since they have such cool lines.

Those Craftsman vises look so cool painted like that I'm surprised they didn't come that way originally. It really gives them a neat, nostalgic appearance.

OK, we now interrupt this chatter with an on topic post! 
I picked up a really nice DP vise yesterday and today cleaned it up and put it into service with the rest of the collection. (With the exception of the 6" Graham Mill vise, that has been my primary DP vise for near thirty years)
Its the largest one in the middle. It's a North Brothers Mfg. "Yankee" #993. with 2-3/4" wide jaws. Once the rust and crud was off of it I found its in incredible shape! Not a single drilling divot, and not even a lot of abuse!
From left to right: 1-1/2" no name, possibly shop built, with a "swivel"jaw for tapered parts, 1-1/2" Palmgren, Palmgren angle vise, the new one, 2-1/2" Std Palmgren, and a 2-1/4" Stanley No. 992A with a Quick Lock swivel base

I'm running into the same drought!
Missed on a Reed 4C Friday se of SA,
hit on a Reed 3CA Saturday w of Cypress.
It's almost as ugly as an inbred duck but it appears to have been used not abused.
I suppose it's ideal for a one vise setup serving a 3rd role of beater but
plans are to have at least 2 working vises before it's all said and done!
I've picked up a few 3"-4" but nothing that screams 'beat me!'/opens really large!
I feel an obsession trying to take hold....

Exactly. Big butcher block top. Lockers and drawers underneath. From a school district auction.
Having 4 of these vises is surely overkill for me, but now I'm reluctant to take any off.

A couple of my vises to add to the list.
First is my daily workhorse, a Record SQ6, one of the last of the made in England Record vises.
Next is my old leg vise. This one I saved out of my Grandfather's garage out on the family farm shortly before my uncle sold the place. No idea of its heritage or maker, there are no markings on it. It serves on my welding table and for some blacksmithing duties.
I also have a smaller 4" Record vise which is mounted on a base that I can hold in my woodworking vise. As I get my shop reorganised, I may find a permanent home for it. And of course, I have a couple of drill press and machine vises.

CK - great looking two tone on the Craftsman vises!! I may have to try a two tone on one of the "under bench" vises.
Autopts - I don't know what that family buys for groceries, but don't mess with them

You don’t see too many of these ERON vises so I thought I would add this one to “Vises of Garage Journal”. Actually, when I bought it, it had an aluminum decal that said Fuller. When I removed the decal, ERON was underneath. I picked this up at a garage sale a year or two ago. It was rusty but otherwise like new. I cleaned it up, painted it with a leftover can of verde green from the last Wilton I did, lubed it and now it looks like new. Specs are: Jaws – 3 ½ inch, Opens - 2 inch, Weight - 17lbs, made in Japan. Design reminds me an awful lot of a Craftsman from back in the 80’s.
